Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Oh, I read Room a few months back! Loved it, except the part where *spoiler*

the mother completely changed character towards her son once rescued and regressed to being a bratty teenager. That, and I seriously couldn't believe that every time she popped in the cupboard as a baby when her kidnapper came to visit, he didn't scream and somewhat spoil the mood...

But otherwise great - well written, and a good 'makes you think' plot.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

How is everyone for this wednesday? Shall I make an event? 7pm white horse? Cmon, girls and boys...

That new place is neat. Newcomers are welcome, hello Lea and we will be happy to have you. Kodokan, hope you get sitting and feel like coming out, Vik, too bad about the Bible study being moved, but it's lit, too, and I am sure you meet some great people there. \w\e could discuss another day, or alternate between two days, to make the bookclub available to all. Zymogen, ThinkPink, are you, girls coming? Hope Vershiksana is reading this page, too.

Alrity.

It does not matter at all, we can always decide laters.

If anyone has any inspiration, bring it. Short stories are great, by the way, for traveling, etc.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hello,

May I ask if there is a minimum age to join this book club?

I am 17 years old and I am currently studying full-time.

In my opinion my English is atrocious. Indeed, so, I desperately want to strengthen my English and I thought that joing a book club will be a great idea.

No worries though, I love reading and analysing books in English. Moreover, I think that I will have the most free time and I would like to take this advantage and read as many books as I can. Don't believe the crap that teenagers tell you on how being a student is hard and time-consuming. It's like saying how time-consuming procrastinating and partiying are.

Book Club in Vevey

I have just started a Book Club in Vevey. We meet on the second Thursday of each month at the Cafe des Amis in Rue des Jardins. The book for July 14th is 'Bonnes Vacances!' by Rosie Millard. Men and women of all ages and backgrounds are welcome. The club is primarily a social event for those who love reading books in English and not a highbrow literary affair.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

And here I was planning to ask exactly the same question as I'm moving to Morges next week.

I can do any day except Sunday and Wednesday.

I even had a book suggestion ready: The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society... I think that's the full title. Don't have the author's name to hand.

Where could we meet?

Welcome back, Bluesky! I'd like to start up again and can do Mon, Tues or Thurs nights. Have y'all read The Martian? Great book especially if you are a bit of a geek, like me.
