Is this only for women?
Course not, everyone welcome - having blokes too will probably help expand the repertoire of proposed books!

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Yay! Got a babysitter, and can definitely make Wed 28th.

So if that's now the official kick-off date, do you think it's worth posting a new event in 'Social Events', with the proper options for people to Accept/Maybe/Decline? Then we'd know numbers and who to expect on the night.

Anyone know how to do that..? If not, I'll have a bash.

is it too late to sign up? what a great idea!
is this place near the train at all- if i make it i'll be taking the train from lausanne!
Amaraya, there will be at least 3 of us that I know of taking the train from Lausanne, so we can all ride together, if you want. I know where the hotel is, so no worries.

Hi all you Bookies!

Brilliant idea, I have been reading this thread with great interest. I am currently in the process of moving and will relocate for good at the beginning of December with my husband. I have never been part of a reading group but always been a avid reader. I look forward to meeting you all and hope I won't be too late to join.

Not sure about distances but don't think its too far to travel to join you from Givrins.

Look forward to seeing you when you get here!

Fair warning, you are all going to be jealous of my Kindle!
Oh DO bring this! I've been keeping an eye on these for months and got very excited the other week when I discovered it was being rolled out across the world, but would really like to try reading on one to see how it feels.

What is a "Kindle"? I'm going to have to google it...

Can def. do the 28th and am looking forward to it - providing I find the hotel!

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hello! Sadly I will be heading home from the UK on the 28th so can't make it BUT definitely hope to see you all at the second meeting, once arranged...please, please keep me posted! I will keep an eye on the social events calendar too... I can generally make most evenings as long as my husband is around to babysit :-)

PS did you all know you can order English books on amazon.de, usually free delivery to Switzerland and usual customs rules apply.

It sounds like it's all coming together and I would love to join you all later in the year, hopefully I will know where you all plan to meet being new but I'm sure I'll find you. I am in Givrins every other week or so between now and Christmas then permanently, so I will try and keep in touch and hopefully join you. I plan to drive over at some point so if I can help with books (i.e paperbacks from sains, tescos etc) just let me know, depending on quantities!

Also curious MusicChick whats stitch&bitch? I'm guessing some sort of sewing group?
Yeah, knitting and so. In Geneva, check us out at www.ravelry.com if you feel like joining.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Everybody who came last night,

The turnout was brilliant and it was great to meet you all over a coke / wine.
And the venue was lovely - thanks for suggesting, Kate

First Book
Just to confirm, the book we are reading is
Ian McEwan's "Saturday" as voted for by you
Buy it here: http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book...69681/Saturday
Thank you Kodokan!

Next meeting
Wednesday 25th November
8pm
Same place - Hotel de la Nouvelle Couronne - The Golden Lounge

Anyone who missed last night is, of course, welcome to read the book and join the next meeting!

Any questions, you know what to do!

Steph

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Ah, I knew I'd struggle with it at first (irrational dislike of books in the present tense) so I took it with me to go and get the tyres changed. 1.5 hours sitting in the garage, nothing else to do... that put paid to the first half of the book and then it was downhill to the end.

We are in the US for Thanksgiving, so I, sadly, will miss the November meeting. Thanks so much for keeping this post updated. I'm definitely in for December.
