Oops, I forgot to post the link for the cookie recipe that y'all asked for:

http://www.joyofbaking.com/Mexican%2...g%20Cakes.html

Enjoy!

Thanks, Rebecca - they were amazing! And in case anyone wants it, here's the recipe for the chocolate-raisin-nut things that I brought along:

http://www.deliaonline.com/recipes/m...-cherries.html

Mine had cranberries in place of the sour cherries, but I used kirsch as the alcohol, so it all evens out.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

What a cool evening that was, even more new faces, fun discussions about the book (The Boy in the Striped Pyjama) and I think we all just had an overall good time Come to think of it, we were 16 if I'm not mistaken?

So, what will be the next book then? Are we going to do a poll or just go for one of them? We've got 6 weeks I think, so that should give us a slightly larger book this time if we're brave

Oh, and if anyone was interested in that one book I mentioned (You F'Coffee Sir), there's a sample chapter on the following website -> http://www.youforcoffeesir.com/ , I'm a flying freak too so if this is a book we want to read one day, I'm all for reading it again

Here's hoping that the next one breaks even more records!

It was fun! Hey, I want a fluffy hat..Too bad it's getting so warm now.

We were one big power group, the biggest so far, I really enjoyed that. It is little harder to communicate but we can always carry on in here. I like that when there is more of us, the discussion gets intriguingly diverse.

I am still pulling for my fav Milan Kundera - The Unbearable Lightness of Being. Since it is a powerful story, not very big and very moving. I know everyone will enjoy it, it gives me nice goosbumps to think about that story. And there is a fab movie, too.

I'm happy with whatever book we go, I need the "cultural diversity" from my boring IT books

If you want cat hats, then you need to visit here -> http://animemagicbox.com/hat-page2.html

and here -> http://bunnywarez.com/catalog/index.php/cPath/21

I'm making a little... errr... order. Should keep my head warm at all times

Awww. These are too cute, haha..What are you gettin? The pink wrist warmers? The ninja hat? I should start a business here, these all look so easy to sew.

I really wonder how I would have felt reading the Stripy PJ book at say 12-13..

I knew about the holocaust by the time I was 10 or so... I think I might have found it similar to what I felt this time around.

But... was quite the book. I enjoyed it, a good book to keep in ones collection.

I was looking at getting the following stuff

http://animemagicbox.com/h-003.html
http://animemagicbox.com/h-011.html
http://bunnywarez.com/catalog/produc...roducts_id/215
http://bunnywarez.com/catalog/produc...products_id/69
http://bunnywarez.com/catalog/produc...products_id/30

And maybe some others... I'm a "Hopeless Case"

Tis ok, My little bro carries stuffed animals in his jeans pockets.
You should just sit your cat on your head...
I wouldn't get the one with hairs out of the ears, makes me think of peeps who have hairs growing out of their nose.

Well, I knew too, had to know about the menace of nazzis. But kids digest these stories in a different way. I think I still would be pished over how ignorant (not innocent) the litle Fury boy was.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

I guess it depends on the individual... the cover on the book did say something to the tune of "innocense in a world of ignorance" (amaraya took my book so can't take a look at the exact words right now... well, I could bing it I guess, but I'm lazy like that).

And regarding any "cat suit" stuff, I really am the "hopeless case" and I think I'll keep my collection to myself

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hi all!

Thanks for a great meeting the other night, there were more of us than ever before - 16!
Communication is more difficult in such a big group and it is difficult for everyone to give their opinion on eachof the subjects we come across... but I hope everyone felt like they got at least a word in!

There seems to be some confusion with the next book... mainly because we voted as people were all getting up to leave, so I'll clarify what got the most votes.

The next book:

The Lone Ranger and Tonto - Fistfight in Heaven by Sherman Alexie

As usual, the link to buy it online (money off at the moment)!http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780749386696/Lone-Ranger-and-Tonto-Fistfight-in-Heaven

Next meeting:

Wednesday 5th May 2010

Setting up an event.

Same venue:

Hotel De La Nouvelle Couronne, Morges

Time:

8pm

Stephanie

PS: Taken note of the other books mentioned and added them to the list!
