Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

I don't remember all the books we've been proposing

I've personally suggested the following:
Shogun by James Clavell -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shogun_(novel)
You F'Coffee Sir by Liz and Julie -> http://www.youforcoffeesir.com/

And I just saw a hilarious one (err... to me at least):

The Zombie Combat Manual by Roger Ma -> http://www.aolnews.com/weird-news/ar...er-ma/19421377

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Hey,

Only just read this.

The list is one that I keep that is made up of suggestions, not a list of the books we will read.

I bring it to every meeting (except the last one when I appeared to have lost my brain for the evening) to add suggestions to, that's all.

How's everyone found getting hold of the book? Depository is out of stock... so waiting on that. Boo.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Has anyone read the book and got a copy? Book dep was out of stock...Asked my mother to try and find me one in a bookstore in the UK and she couldn't find it...

Before I pay a ridiculous price to get it shipped, could anyone lend me their copy?

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Lucky for you the book is a pretty quick read... half a day or so.

I'm a bit busy at the moment, but I could probably find a way to get it for you on friday if you're passing by somewhere in the afternoon. Unless someone else gets you their copy first.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Sorry Shin,

I forgot to check back on here, have had the kids a lot lately!

Everyone - following on from my comment just above, the host mother in my family here is in Paris until tonight on business...she's due to get the private plane at 18.00 which means she SHOULD get back here in time to relieve me and me not be too late for book club...

However if she's late, I will be too. So must warn you all now that I have no guarantee of what time I will be able to get there.

I hope someone (Maybe you, Amy?) could take the lead and get things going while I wash kids bums, put them in pyjamas and wait for the mother to return to be let off duty...?

Thanks guys and désolé.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Amy took the lead like a champ, and the evening was a great! I think the book was a success based on what we all thought of it

Too bad we were a slightly smaller group, but I think we all got a good chance to speak up.

So, the next book then I believe is:
The unbearable Lightness of Being

And if I recall correctly, the next wednesday meeting will be on the 16th of June, and there'll be a movie night on the 13th of June.

See y'all then and thanks for the fun evening =)

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

thanks shini! you are the sweetest! i'm really glad everyone enjoyed it (or are still currently enjoying it! ) it was a great discussion about stuff that usually don't enter book group discussions or any discussion between normal people!

looking forward to this next book as well- and the movie night coming up!

morges book club rocks with the huge variety of what we got going on- what a treat for a wednesday night.

Sorry guys that I could not attend last night event Apparently your guys had a great time.

I will try to make for the next one, though it seems hard... I am again traveling, but I will try.

BTW, I actually lost my book in the train last week, so I did not really finish the book I was half way thru. Will it be possible that someone lend me the book? Thank you!

It was a great evening. The book was enjoyably different, we really should find the movie, I wonder what Victor looks like..

"Unbearable Lightness of Being" it is, yipee. It will be fun to read again. And then there is the movie, too.

The dates sound good.

Hiya,

we do not meet Tuesday morning, so you are in luck!!!

We meet Wednesdays evenings 8pm, roughly about once every 5-6 weeks, or so. Morges, Hotel de la Nouvelle Couronne, Grand Rue 80, I think it is. (next meet up is movie night Sunday June 13th and the usual book club Wedn June 16th)

We have the movie nights for the books we have covered, if we find the movies.

Come, anyone is welcome..

Make sure to come to Amy's place next saturday, I'll have the book ready for you so that you can finish reading it =)

I think you'll enjoy some of the later chapters... not sure where you ended up before you lost the book, but the chapters on James for example are quite interesting.

Re: Book club / Reading group in / around Morges

Okies, bookworms, let's bump this so we don't forget...

Ludvik Kundera is next, the fabulous "Unbearable Lightness of Being" for June 16th.

Then there should be a movie meet-up Sunday June 13th, is that correct?

It's nice to read in lovely weather, aaaaaahh...
