Reminder! The 8th is coming up (although it feels like ages away) so if you are interested check back soon and i will have more details as to times etc. I dont plan to have a very structured day so if you want to come with us and then do your own thing that is cool too. I definately want to see the bears in Bern i keep hearing about though! If anyone has any 'must see' ideas let me know!

Excellent! Glad you can all make it! The plan currently is to meet at the Bern train station. I have to look up times of trains to see what is reasonable but i am thinking around 11am or noon. Has anyone been to the station and can suggest a good meeting point?

Hi All,

Lets meet at 12:00 in the Bern trainstation inside the entrance to the right. I have never been to the Bern train station so i am picking a random meeting point. Just look for the short blond girl who speaks English (My profile pic is me so you have an idea what i look like).

Fo those coming from Basel there is an 11:01 train getting to Bern at 11:56.
I will be comming from Zurich on the train at 11:00 and arriving at 11:57.

Anyone comming from another location please check SBB.ch timetable for a train arriving at Bern around 12:00.

Please PM me if you have any questions about meeting. I do not have an 'itinerary' fopr the day but have researched some cool things to do. Will just plan to wander around the city, see some cool sights, and meet some fun people and of course i will plan time for a beer

Below the destruction where it says "Bahnhofplatz", I would meet at Heiliggeistkirche - they've finished the building work in real life and you see a wonderful modern structure next to the church as you leave the station. Might be a nice meeting point there?

Within the station is usually chaos.

I live in Bern and take the train everyday. There is a big meeting point in the station next to the big train schedule board. I think there is even the SBB sign for a meeting point there (Blue sign with a dot in the middle with arrows pointing towards it). That is right in the middle of the station and easy to find. There are multiple entrances and exits to the station so I would recommend meeting right in the middle by the train schedule.

As for things to do in Bern, the new Barengraben is nice, there is an apartment where Einstein lived that is a pretty quick visit and only about 5 francs. There is the big zytglogge, which is a big clock that rings and has some moving parts on the hour. Both of these are along the way from the station to the Barengraben.

There is also a zoo located in Dahlholzi which is not far from the center of town.
