The point is to taste wine, find the ones you like and buy a few bottles to enjoy later or cellar until they get even better.
how many people can really taste 20-30 wines and really make an informed opinion on which one is likely to improve with age or which one has better balance than the one that they had 4 hours and 29 glasses ago...

That's why we get catalogues and make notes.

Gets a bit tougher after the first 70. Not as tough as reading the writing afterwards though.

Thats why smiley faces are good.... the more smiley faces I give a wine the better it is and I don't have to struggle with reading drunken illegible writing at a later date!

Oh really?

Maybe I got a bit confused, when I heard there was a ship full of free wine for tasting, my initial inclination was to get ****-faced and guzzle as much free wine as possible before being banned/thrown-off/arrested.

But thanks for the clarification - I shall amend my expectations accordingly.
At my first Wine Boats I remember thinking that this would never work in the UK or Australia. It would just be one big ****-up

In Sydney I went to one tasting where you buy coupons that you exchange for a measured taste of wine. I guess when you have had enough they won't sell any more coupons to you.

I enjoy finding great wines to fill my cellar, and will hopefully visit a couple of times this year. My other half is unemployed, so he may be visiting more often

At my first Wine Boats I remember .....
When I was first told about the Wine Boats I asked, so how long do you stay on the boats for? As long as you like, I was told.
Really that sounds interesting so you can get off at Thalwill, Kusnacht, Rapperswil?
No Burkliplatz, the people telling me explained as if I was asking a silly question.
I mean how dumb was I to associate boats with sailing!!

Hi Guys
Does anyone know if you need a ticket for this event? My German is still not great and can not seem to find info on the website. Do you just pay on the door if not?

Many thanks
