The Lausanne events contact list has been discontinued. That's not to say that there will be no more events arranged in the Lausanne area, simply that I will no longer be sending out messages. This thread will be locked to prevent further posts.

Hi everyone.

Over the past few months, forum activity and forum-related social activity in Lausanne has really picked up. (Hooray!!!) There have been several very successful pub/social nights, and beach volleyball is promising to be a popular activity for forum members this spring/summer as well. I hope we can continue this very positive trend over the coming months. If I may say so myself, you're a fine bunch of folks to hang out with.

Lamentably, it seems that every time someone organises event, a portion of forum members in the Lausanne area can't make it because they didn't find out about it or forgot about it (oops!). They may have missed the original post, or saw the wrong date (it's happened before!), or they may have forgotten about it until the day afterwards...

I was thinking it might be useful to organise a 'contact list' for upcoming social events in the Lausanne area that are being organised by forum members. The contact list will be used ONLY in the following situations:

1. To advertise a new upcoming event (e.g. social night, volleyball, other outing) in Lausanne shortly after it has been announced in the forum.
(1a. To make changes/corrections in date/time/location for said event)

2. To remind people of the event a day or two prior to it happening.

I will volunteer to maintain this contact list and use it only in the above circumstances.

EDIT: Anyone and everyone is welcome to organise and post an event. You don't need any permission to do this. Pick a venue, day, and time, post it in the forum as a social event, and ask people to RSVP. For my part, if you ask me to, I'll send out a PM giving details of your event to those subscribed to the contact list. I won't send out random messages saying 'anyone want to do something this weekend', but I will send out announcements along the lines of 'Meeting at Karma 8 pm this Saturday'.


If you'd like to be added to the contact list for upcoming organised events, please respond to this thread, or contact me via personal message (PM). All contact will take place using the englishforum.ch PM system, not email.

Notes:

1. You will be able to unsubscribe to this contact list at any time by contacting me.

2. This contact list will be used to announce non-commercial events ONLY.

3. I am not an official organiser of events. If you can think of an event you'd like to see happen, sort out the details and post it in the forum as a social event. It's easy as pie. Please don't ask me to organise events for you.

I think that with this contact list, we'll be able to get an event better turnout to events, and therefore have an even BETTER time than we're already having.

However, I'm here until May 18, so would love to join in on any upcoming social events that are planned.

Just a little update, I've had a great response to the contact list so far, and have already used it to announce another pub night.

However, there will be plenty more events organised over the summer and there is always room for more members on the contact list. If you'd ike to stay informed about what's going on in Lausanne, feel free to get in touch with me at anytime to be added to the list.
