| | | Curry Dinner ZH
Hello all,
having attended a few of the drinkies sessions at the Cana in ZH I decided, having been in the city for 8 years, that it might be in order for me to organise something, like a curry night.
Unfortunately I cannot post to the Events thread until I have 5 or more posts (or so the FAQ) says and our moderator has so far ignored my entreaties for special access ... maybe he has been in CH too long, ... so I am posting here.
29 May, King Kurry, King's Kurry - Speisekarte
19:30 please RSVP so I can warn them in advance how many are comming.
Regards
Hans

Have you tried PM-ing both Mods of the events section? Or you could just try contributing on other threads 5 times & posting the event yourself .

Great ... maybe I can start a flame war with you ... should get me five posts in no time.
No I did not know there were two moderators of the Events thread because it says nothing of the sort in the "Read this first".
No, moderators do not have a life of their own, they are little purple dwarfs that inhabit cyberspace and corrupt our youth and frustrate the rest of us by not answering polite requests for help that don't come in a cup size >"B" ... don't argue, I teach computer science ... it says so in chapter 1 of the programmers bible. They may come out for a beer or five and assume perfectly normal forms but its all a cunning disguise.
I hate posting on forums ... forums bring out the worst in me, my posts generally fail to increase my fan club ... still ... no one got anywhere by not having enemies. On the other hand I am a thrilling guy to spend an evening eating curry with, charming, considerate and knows how to hold a knife and fork and what a napkin is for.
You moved my post to God knows where but apparently not into the events section but thanks for recognising my existence it can only go up from here. Anyone care to help me get my 5 posts ... if I must go through the official route?

No flames intended. I know one of the mods of the events section is out at the moment, I was trying to be helpful. The mods of each section are listed on the right hand side of the forum list or if your are already in Social Events at the bottom of the page. Your post is still where it started, I did try to move it to events but the software is cleverer than me & does not let me circumvent the 5 post rule. The head purple dwarf may be able to do something about that though .
Feel free to give me some more pearls of wisdom from your programmers bible to make it to 3 . Would that be Java or C++?

Hans - I will help you promote "Curry Night." We met at the Cana Bar...I know King's Kurry well, and the owners are friends of mine. See you there.

Hi Hans,
Thanks for organizing this event. Would you (and everyone for that matter) mind posting the day of the week for events as well as the date? Then it's easier to make a quick response without having to get out the calendar.
Thanks,
Amy

Hey Hans
I would like to come to your event, (being a curry lover from way back) but my sister has cunningly decided to visit me this year, ruining all my social plans (all 3 of them !!)
Hopefully there will be other curry nights, but I understand if the frustration that can be caused by dealing with event organisation gets the better of you :> Yes, aside from all the glory, free drinks and friends you make (insert tongue in cheek), as a worshipped organiser, you may have to deal with some hardships !!
In the meantime........see you at the next Cana bar night on the 23rd ?

Yup ... but I STILL can't post to the Events calendar.
So instead of giving you and any other moderator I can lay my vowels upon, a bollocking that would make the RSM of a Guards regiment look like a complete pansy ... I shall merely utter a tired sigh, shake my head and retire from the field of battle ... defeated by youth and technology ... and tend to my garden.

Hans | | | | | You will need to speak to Lob Rockster about that, he's the one with the keys to Wonderland or at least the rights to change things.

Hans,
Great to meet you today ... based on our chat I thought I'd log in again to English Forum, did a search on your name and thus found your curry night. Encouraged to do so by Nanda last week, I even got around to and managed to succeed in posting an event (its really easy if you know nothing about computers; you are clearly applying too much knowledge ).
By the way, the 29th is a Tuesday, but as its the day after a holiday, its like a Monday, and as an experienced event manager I can assure you Mondays are no good; people forget to show up. Give some thought to trying another date.
See you in Winti again soon,
Lisa |
