Alright boys and girls,
time to grab your flutes and your drums, your wigs and your wagons. Fasnacht is coming up!

We are meeting up at Starbucks, Freie Strasse. (Trams 2/8/10/11 from SBB Bahnhof to Bankverein). Go to the floor downstairs, there is a large space and best chances to fit us there. For newbies, well you will know the group when you see a bunch of people with big cameras.
We will walk around and check out the city before going on of the main procession starting at 1:30.

Watch out for the Waggies!!

Also to be noted:
You can buy these little carnival pins to put on your jacket. If you have the pin, the Waggies must leave you alone. If you don't have them, well you might expect being bullied by a Waggie

The carnival officially starts at 4 a.m.

I will go at 3:30 am as well, so we can have un-official meeting then as well for those who are interested. You know what to do, just PM me Both timing will be valid for posting on our Flickr group.

Hi,

if you want to understand Fasnacht a bit more from the inside then I suggest checking out Nick's blog (Nickatbasel on EF). He is a member of a clique and gives you a good insight from the other side of the mask.

Get well soon! I did turn up for the Morgestraich (I arrived around 3:10am) but couldn't find you and found the big group of couchsurfers, so followed them instead.

I finally got all of my stuff up today. It took a while because of some 'Sturm' on my connection that knocked me off the net for a while, but it's all back up now

Sorry we missed you adrianlondon, the four of us wound up pitched in an island of people between the two parades as they passed each other at Bankverein. It was a great location but pretty much impossible to escape from while the parades were going!
