City/Town: On the slopes!
Event Type: Sports
Meeting Point: Zurich HB Meeting Point

NOTE I HAVE HAD TO RESCHEDULE TO SUNDAY the 14TH

Hello all!

Ski season is rapidly coming to a close and after a great Snow & Rail day on Feb 27, we decided to go for the EPIC EF S&R day of 2010! As such, we are posting this early to see if we can get at lest 10 people out for the day!

Location is Pizol.

Everyone who can ski down a red run is welcome!. Generally speaking, we start off the day with a couple of group runs, then have the option of breaking off into smaller groups depending on the range of skill level.

Hope to see you on the slopes!

I would like to come along never having skied Pizol. Hopefully I can make the early train having watched the Calcutta cup game.

Great to see Papa G and Mama G on board. Mama has my guarantee she will be right @ home at Pizol. And Jemma, after full reflection, now that you have achieved black run skier status, you are forever burdened with carrying your own equipment. Let's go folks, 1 more to get to 10 snow hounds. You know you want to!

On your assurance T-bird were in, but have never been to Pizol so an non-hero gude would be great. We will be driving so will meet you on the hill, I'll give you a call when we get there if that's ok... tally ho

EDIT:do I get Schümli-Pflümli for getting you to double figures?

Re: EF Snow Hound Snow & Rail Day

Epic day and special thanks to Trev for organising.
Good to meet up with a few other faces and even better to spend more time in the bar than on the slopes

Thanks all for a great day
Cheers
Mike

Re: EF Snow Hound Snow & Rail Day

Thanks to Luminousmind for organizing this event. It was a shame the weather gods were not smiling down on us today but it did give me chance to get to know some of the group a little better in the bar and have some banter whilst watching the rugby... and yes me turning up later than planned meant I missed all the good weather early this morning

Would like to go back and visit Pizol again as it seemed like a nice resort and it would be nice to see where I actually skied as I haven't got a clue which runs we did (they all looked the same in that annoying fog).

Anyway I had a great day and even îf I didn't do as much skiing as planned it was a good group and lots of fun.

Thanks again and look forward to hopefully squeezing in another EF ski day before the season ends

Re: EF Snow Hound Snow & Rail Day

Thanks for organizing another epic "ghost skiing day" luminousmind - although sunny only 50 meters from the top, but still cementary in the fog below was spectacular

As the event has been growing week by week with larger and larger participation rate I would propose to create the Snow Hounds' budget for apres ski drinking with the most sober one in the group to overlook it

To Mods: How come I can not green-blob same person few times in a row especially when she/he deserves it for organizing such an awesome event?

Thanks Luminousmind for organising this, I think I can vouch for everyone that it was a fab day!!!

I will definitely be trying again another Schümli-Pflümli, perfect way to warm oneself up at lunchtime

Indeed, Schümli-Pflümli as others would agree was quenching thirst and added some vigour to skiing in the thick cloud

EDIT: Did I already mention no more travelling in the first class coach with surcharge CHF10 which is equivalent to "two more beers" in resort - what a waste...

Shame you didn't get the weather. Andermatt (Sedrun) was lovely today. Hope there is another trip or two planned before the end of the year and I can join you. I like the frequent talk of apres ski :P

Re: EF Snow Hound Snow & Rail Day

Wow,

Flattered to see the kudos before I finished apres ski!

Very humbling to see 16 people show up for the event - a record for EF snow hound ski days in 2010! It is great to spend the day with folks that are passionate about skiing, which is my one and only goal in arranging these events. The feedback I receive inspires me to continue organizing more, so thanks for contributing to making the day special for me.

Apologies to Papa G and Mama G, should have better expressed the changing weather conditions but the visibility was much better before you arrived. By all accounts looks like Radix was right, Andermatt was the better option today!

Pizol is a great resort close to the Zurich. Experience now tells me it is best to extend your runs down to the top half of the gondola on the Wangs side and determine where you ski based on the conditions that day.

In spite of the bad visibility, we had a great crew show up whose spirit and enthusiasm made up for the ever changing soup elevation!

Hope to get one more in before the year is done, here are some picks of the day.

No worries T-bird, we'd never been to Pizol, and you can't control the weather. The top was real spooky for Mama G an d I, but we didn't get as lost in the cloud as one couple... they were from Hungary.

Glad you had the best of it and got a good crew together for some fun, shame I didn't get to spend more time with you and Jim on the snow. Big thanks to Jacek too for stopping me to say hi.... as if he didn't I 'd have gone over that section all lemming styleee

Glad you made it to the slopes, Papa Goose and it'sa shame that we just only said quick hello to each other and Mama Goose. I wrongly assumed to meet you down in a pub up the gondolabahn later... Anyway, I'm glad that at least partially I managed to redeem myself from last year's Snowsport Day's carnage caused on the piste due to my recless drinking and riding. Well, at least this time I saw black steep devil just in time Hope you've had at least one or two hours of happy skiing together as well...

Let's hope there will be more events to be had before end of the season. Snow doesn't seem to subside yet.

Yup, a fun day indeed

I'll going to be at Flumserberg on both Saturday and Sunday next weekend,
(I know, a masochist!) so if anyone wants to meet up, that'd be cool

This reminded me of yesterday's weather

It sounds good and I wish I could. Unfortunately instead of spending the week in the mountains, especially in such nice location as St. Anton most likely is, I have to cure myself. That's right... I came down with some sort of nasty flu and neither going to irish Pub nor any kind of sport for me at the moment. Happy skiing though
