Sounds like a lifetime experience. All in all, its only helicopter skiing no "hell-skiing".
Cannot make it this coming weekend though as I will be away skiing in Austria. Do they have a website to check for other deadlines?

| | | Heli Skiing Zermatt / Monte Rosa
Are you interested in joining me for a Heli skiing day in Zermatt ?
We will fly op to Monte Rosa in 4200 meter above sea level, and ski 16000 meter offpiste down to Zermatt in 1600 meter. Monte Rosa is Europes 2nd highest mountain, and we will be just 400 meter from the top.
Note: This is for REALLY good skiers only. you MUST be capable of doing parallel turns even in deep snow. The Air pressure in 4200 meter is just ca. 55% of the air pressure at sea level, so good physical condition is a must.
The price for this pleasure is CHF 380 per person, and this includes the fee for the mountain guide
If you are interested, send a mail, with your phone number, so I can contact you in case of bad weather etc.
If you want to join, sign up no later than 3 march.
note: This is posted on glocals too. please do not sign up twice.

I was asked, re. Snowboards, and have spoken to Air Zermatt. Unfortunately, Snowboards are not allowed on the Monte Rosa trip.

Still spots available, and the Weather forecast looks excellent :-)
Sign up tonight before 18.00, and I can tell them, how many we will be.
I have confirmation from them, that its fine, if we leave Zurich 7.00, and arrive in Zermatt 10.14, so there is time for a quick snack before we go to the heliport 11.00 and take off 11.30.

Yes, they said, the snow had been blown away, and only offered heli skiing to Alphubeljoch, skiing down to Täsch, and no thanks.
But hopefully it works out on saturday instead. I'm not giving up

The wind is often a problem if you go high. You'll find areas of very sparse snow and deep pockets which are quite dangerous in many cases. Sometimes a set of skins, a map, some imagination and a little effort can get you what money and a helicopter may not be able to get you. |

i'm sure you would've still had a 2-3m base of crust to enjoy!
the problem is the same in many places after last weekend. winds were >100kph on saturday. you just have to find where the snow all blew off to and go there instead.

Its a picture I took from the SLF website that the posted in the Weekly report last week. The picture is the crown line from a spontaneous avalanche that went down at 3200m near Gross St. Bernard the weekend before last.
