Hi Jeesy-Lein,
Is this an all day event? I can't see the time posted? Also, what time will you be meeting, and are there any details to make it easier for people to recognise you? You haven't posted many details about this event?

Hi,
I am interested in this as I have a friend across from the UK that week, and Open Air Cinema is always fun - but before I do I wanted to ask;
- what film is showing (or what kind of film if you're not decided yet?)
- will it be in English or German... (or have English subtitles?)
My friend speaks OK German, but mine is still very poor so as long as there is some way we can understand it then I reckon we'll be there
The time won't be an issue as I have taken a weeks holiday, but obviously we would need to know when to turn up |

Usually the start time is sometime after sunset. It needs to be dark enough so the resolution works. It's not meant to be so formal that you arrive 5 minutes before the film begins: head down during the evening, enjoy the live music and atmosphere and hang out. Easy man.

Hi Terry
This is the website and the movie looks to be walk the line.
However as they don't mention anything about language or subtitles i'm guessing its dubbed over in German. Its a pity really as some Jonny Cash music at an open air cinema would make for some great acoustics. http://www.idaplatz.org/Film/filmindex.html
Cheers
Brian

Movies in German speaking Switzerland are rarely dubbed (how is it in other areas?). Seeing as there's no info on the website as to language, it's likely to be the original version with subtitles. And if not, well, the music certainly won't be dubbed... |

For instance this new Will Ferrell movie is only available dubbed over here. I'm not going to put a bet on with you though
As for the music well my friends went to see the musical "we will rock you" and parts of it (songs and spoken) were in german and english.
Actually anyone know whether the musical les miserables which is coming here will be in english or german?

Hm, so it will likely be dubbed in German and then subtitles in English? I guess I could live with that.
I've seen walk the line before, it's a fantastic film I have to say!
Max, I used to go to the Open Air film festival in Totnes when I lived in Devon, so I know it's usually a very relaxed atmosphere, but I learned the 2 valuable lessons of
1) take a deckchair
2) take a blanket!
Still a maybe at the moment, depending if my friend has also seen Walk The Line, and also whether she fancies a movie in German with English subs...

Check out Winterthur!
The naming of the movie is my wife's tip for dubbing warning. EG at Abaton 8005 Zurich

| | | Re: Ring of Fire Open air Kino Details!!: I will be the one who looks like the girl in this picture.
The movie will begin at sundown (exact time not given). There will be tickets sold, but blankets or chairs are a good idea. There will be many food and drink stands that will be tasty and good.
I think that meeting between 19:00 and 19:30 would be a good idea: time to eat and get place and everything!
I'm so excited at the response.
OH, in true swiss fashion, it is promised to be subtitled and not synchronised. |

Ring of Fire is not actually a Johnny Cash movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0257042/
Walk the Line is the Johnny Cash movie.

Bump!
So, it's in English, there'll be a great live band playing beforehand; there'll be food, beer... Lovely!
If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be near the Berta Bar, Leffe in hand...
