I'll remind you all it is called Gridiron and not FOOTBALL. The clue is in the name. If the majority of the time the ball is the hands why not call it Handball?

Us Limeys and the rest of the world that play wear no helmets or girlie padding either and can you imagine a World series that has other countries playing in it! Fascinating hey?

Pedant altert: There are countless games around the world called 'football' which all descend from medieval or 'mob' football, and soccer is in the minority in that it is actually played with the feet!

I'm arriving in ZH in October and (once I've got myself and family settled) I'd love to pop along to play some flag football - how do I sign up?

OH MY GOD! Different cultures of different people thousands of kilometers away from each other use different words to describe things.

Obviously there is only one word for a certain thing and the rest of the world must follow suit regarless of how irrelavant it is. :P

True that Chemmie. The genuine article (as we both know) is spelled C.F.L. Thanks for signing up BTW, we have a lot of players this week, so we can run some great plays and give the defense a chance at playing some decent zone. It didn't work last week, the receivers kept on splitting the zones and we just had to watch. If we can get HB to show, we'll play Canada/Iowa against the lower 49 again.

Sadly, working another Sunday...will have to wait one more week to join. Have fun this weekend.

Town council e-mailed this morning say that the Tüfistrasse fields were closed due to their condition, so we're at the field off Brandschenkestrasse in ZH-Wiedikon this week which is on the Sihl opposite the athletics field. It's only about 400-500 yards away from ZH-Wiedikon train station, so pretty easy to get to.

Just a hint. In a similar or lesser distance is the Selnau-station served by the S4 Sihltalbahn and S10 Uetlibergbahn
