What a great idea! Thanks for organising this. I've wanted to visit the caveaux and do some wine tasting for ages now, but I've always been a bit intimidated and unsure where to go, so this sounds perfect. I'm just gutted that I'll probably be away that weekend! |

They are fun places and there is no need to be intimidated. We like the one in Riex, but that is just because it is the first one we stumbled across. There are usually only a few reds and whites on the menu and you can buy by half or full bottle (approx CHF 10-12 or 20-22 repectively). In Riex they also sell some sausage and cheese to go with wine. It is very uncomplicated and the people are very friendly, including the bunch of locals who usually fill at least part of the place.

I was asked whether the walk was suitable for doing with kids in tow. Apart from the time (they may be tired by the time the walk back starts), there is no reason not to take kids.
We walked a slightly different route last weekend. The going is easy, there are just some steep bits which make overweight people like myself wheeze. Kids should have no problem, strollers should also work, as it is mostly tarmac roads. There were a few gravel footpaths strewn in but nothing more.

Unfortunately it looks as though I'll be away that weekend, so I'll print off your itinerary to use on another occasion! Good luck with the event!

Sounds an excellent idea, we are dropping people off at the airport but should make it back for about 16:00, Dave and Emma

No problem, Dave. Train doesn't leave until 16:30 so you should have plenty of time. Look forward to seeing you both there.

Damn damn damn! The one day I have to collect a student from the airport - at 5pm! This looks like a terrific event, and I hope everyone who goes has a great time. I also hope there will be more similar events, so I can make it to the next..

We had a really nice group together! Thank you all for coming.
We were 19 all counted, took the train to Grandvaux and visited the Riex and Epesses Caveaux. There was a slight mutiny about walking back up the hill to Grandvaux, so we ended up walking down to Cully and catching the train back to Lausanne from there.
Ten of us ended up going for dinner the Cafe de Theatre, which was a good suggestion.
Hope to see you all again soon.

I also very enjoyed our trip on Saturday. Beautifull view on the lake, good wine and nice people.
So hopefully we will have some new events soon and will meet again.
