Recreational Ice Hockey in Switzerland

Hi guys,

I'm moving to Zurich next week and I was thinking of starting to play ice hockey again. I haven't played in a few years so I will probably be pretty rubbish, but does anyone know of any teams in zurich that play just for laughs??

Re: Ice Hockey-Zurich?

At times I'm tempted to suggest ZSC - sometimes they just play for laughs (or so it seems)

On a more serious note, maybe get in touch with one of the fan clubs for ZSC or Kloten, they might be able to point you in the direction of some rec teams.

Re: Ice Hockey-Zurich?

I'm not into ice hockey but here is the website of a fun ice hockey tournament with many contact informations and a forum with a player-searches-team section. There's even a Nelson Pub Zürich fun hockey team advertising...

Hi
My son plays on a team in Kloten - I think it's fourth league - anyway, he said you should get in contact if you are interested - there are some other English-speakers on the team - they have regular practices (once a week) and games (also once a week).
PM me and I'll pass it on to my son.
(and just so you don't think I am referring you to some juniors, he is 24 and they range in age from about 20-40).

I'm an ice hockey player from Canada and will be relocating to Baden, Switzerland area this Fall. Am interested to know if anyone has located a rink with opportunity to play.

Re: Ice Hockey-Zurich?

Until someone who really knows something about it comes online - here is a list of clubs to look at. Teams in Switzerland.
Sorry I can't help further. Sorry the link doesn't seem to work. Perhaps this one Ice-Hockey does.

There is a men's hockey team in Wettingen, which is close to Baden. The team is called the Mighty Beavers. Here is a link (only available in German).

I would certainly bring all your gear as you wouldn't want to have to buy new equipment here.

Recreational Ice Hockey

I live in Baden, near Zurich, and was wondering if anyone knows about any recreational and/or semi-competitive ice hockey leagues or pickup times that I can just join. I brought my equipment and would love to get back on the ice.

I posted this for someone else who inquired about hockey in Baden - this is in Wettingen, close enough. Link is in German only so perhaps you can ask a colleague to help.

Re: Ice Hockey-Zurich?

After a bit of hunting around, I found this site: http://www.zep.ch/teams_kontakte.php

which is for rec level (hobby) and apparently there are 49 teams in the Zurich canton. I'm gonna check this out, looking for some people who are as old and slow as me, but still love the game. Wish me luck! BTW, Thurgau also has a hobby league: THL.

Well, enjoy, whatever level you're playing in!

Re: Recreational Ice Hockey in Switzerland

I would love to play, but am nowhere good enough to play in a formal league...does anyone play any informal pond hockey, when it's cold enough or even informal roller hockey? Is there a court for that anywhere, where people just go and play?

Hey Ryan, I am Also in Baden, and also want to play a bit of rec hockey. I think the closest team nearby is in Wettingen, although i still have not checked it out. Maybe this winter

All rinks provide "free" ice time where you can have an informal game. It costs about 5CHF and you can even hire the skates, sticks there. The time for hockey is called "Chneble"
. I know the rinks in zurich all do this.

I have been playing for one of the ZEP teams. I would recommend it, it is really great fun!
