road cycling club/people in zug

Hi all,
I have just moved to Zug and I am in the process of getting my road bike put back together!

I was an ametuer club cyclist back in Ireland, and I have not been on the bike for the last 6months, so I am itching to get out. (albeit at a slower pace )

Are there any road cycling clubs in the vicintiy?
I have noticed a few people out, so thought I would test the waters here to see if I could find some partners to show me the routes!

Any info welcomed.

Thanks
Neil

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

If you can put up with the pathetic pace of a former trackie who's now 8kg overweight and in a country which matches his weaknesses better than his strengths, I'm up for some runs with you.

I'm in Unterageri (which means the climb home afterwards...uh oh...)

It may need to wait a few weeks - my wife is overdue with our 2nd!

PS there was a million people out today. All annoyingly trim and riding the latest and greatest Italian carbon weapon.

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

Thanks, that would be good!

Id like to tackle that "hill"" over to Unterageri, i hear its nice over there! but maybe in a few weeks time, when im used to being in the saddle again.

A few weeks suit me anyway, as the bike is in the shop this week getting some TLC.

on your note, I did notice a lot of pristine pieces of italian machinery floating around alright... was a great day to get out to be honest.

Best of luck with the new arrival!

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

cool - take a look at the 2 closest to Zug (that i know of, which have road cycling) http://www.veloclub-steinhausen.ch/
and http://www.rmv.ch/

if there are others you know of, please let me know... many of them around this area appear to be for mountain bike groups... but i wouldnt mind grazing a few knees and doing a few ameteur club races

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

hello,

I usually cycle around the lake on my mtb once a week. Im not a racer, seem to be overtaken alot by the roadies. Will be out tomorrow to test out my new road bike though. If anybody fancies some company cycling around the lake sometime at a casual pace let me know?

PS does anyone know what the record is for going around the lake? i did 1hr 48 on an mtb

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

Pity, I dropped the bike in the shop to get a few things sorted, but should have it back mid week... Id be up for a casual pace next weekend if youre willing to show the route! Also, I can share some tips for your new road bike!! you will naturally go faster with those low resistance wheels

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

Sorry to drag up an old thread. I have just moved to Zug, and did my first lap-of-the-lake yesterday (between snow showers!)

I did a 1h21 with a few stops to pull up google maps. Think I can shave at least 10 off that without difficulty.

Anyone keen for a weekend jaunt?

Rather ridiculously, I am currently riding a singe speed steel framed racer pending a pay cheque and buying something with gears.

No hills for now: Limited to the lake.

HT

Closer to the summer I could also use the training company but for now I'll focus on snowboarding during weekends. I did 1:23 in last year's Zytturm triathlon (that also being my first olympic distance) with an old bike I bought with few hundred francs from Ricardo. I was constantly being overtaken but it was great fun and will definetely try to improve my ranking this year!

Re: road cycling club/people in zug

Hi All - I am about to put a post up about road cycling in Zug but thought I would say a quick hi here also. Moved to Zug a few months ago and got the bike out last weekend - felt great to be back in the saddle. I need to be in some serious training over the next months as I am doing the London, Brussels, Amsterdam challenge - 550km in 4 days in August.
Here is the twist, i am not what you would usually see on a bike! I am very overweight, unfit in comparisson to the local cyclists and probably go at a snails pace! Is there anyone out there who wants to take it easy, at least for the next month or so?
