Re: Zurich tennis ladder

Hi Will,

I am quite late for the ladder but would be interested in being informed if you start a new one next year.

Have a good week

Best Regards

Guys & Gals, Henmans and Sharapovas,

Anyone have any interest in playing some tennis this summer?

Myself and a few friends are setting up a tennis ladder in Zurich and are looking for others to join us. For those of you not familiar with this, each person is on a rung on a ladder and the aim is to move up the ladder by challenging and beating people above you. If you lose or don't play you move down the ladder. There are various rules to ensure fairness and encourage people to play but it doesn't need to be taken too seriously!

No need to be any good (even never hit a ball!), the benefit of a ladder is you play people at your level. And no need to have lots of time, just as much as you want. Can play lunchtimes, after work, before work, during work....As long as you can commit to a couple of games a month.

There's some great courts in the city, I usually play at this one http://www.tennis-zuerich.ch/ but you can play anywhere. About chf8 each at lunch time of chf10 each after work.

The benefit of this format is you can play anywhere anytime as long its mutually convenient with your challenger!

To kick this off we may have a tennis afternoon and bbq to get to know each other and have a bit of fun.

Please forward to anyone you think might be interested. The more the merrier!

Cheers
Will

Re: Zurich tennis ladder

In case you are interested in how it works, this is a rough overview:

You can find the rules of the ladder here: http://www.globaltennisnetwork.com/n...is-ladder-2013

The aim is to move up the ladder by beating people above you.

a) register on the ladder homepage http://www.globaltennisnetwork.com/n...is-ladder-2013

b)Pick someone up to three people above you and "challenge" them with the green challenge button

c)When you've been challenged you have up to 1 week to accept the challenge or decline. If you decline the challenge or the week is up, you automatically move down two positions in the ladder

d)Challenge accepted, arrange a suitable time and have a game of tennis! Game can be any length; 5 sets, 3 sets, 3 games. Up to you.

e)When completed, the winner logs on to the ladder and enters the score. If the person lower in the ladder beats the person above them, they move above them in the ladder. If the higher beats lower then no change.

You can challenge as many times and as often as you want. However, if you don't play games you will move down the ladder.

Re: Zurich tennis ladder

This looks great, thanks for organizing.
I haven't played tennis in a long time, and was never good to begin with, so this will likely not be pretty But that sunshine out there today made me want to pick up my racquet again, and this ladder sounds like a great opportunity to do so !

Re: Zurich tennis ladder

If this works here with the scheduling and finding tennis partners, this would be really awesome!! Or does anyone know where else I could find a "datin site" to play tennis?
