He was send off because he acted like a jerk. I saw what he did many times and it was a very unnecessary stupid act.

Messi needs a break. He has been playing every matches since.... Well I don't remember when he didn't play.
He's a professional footballer who gets paid millions to entertain the world. I do not feel for him It is his job to be in shape...

I have to say I am happy to see he is human and it isn't just players on my team who can tank the penalty shots at key moments...

Trouble was that the Barcelona goalie had nodded off during the previous half-hour or so of inactivity around his goal, before Torres rudely woke him up.

I dislike Chelsea but good for them, they deserved to go through. Well played! John Terry, you're a prat, I'm glad that if Chelsea win you won't be lifting the trophy as captain. Will you even get a medal?

I'm glad Chelsea beat Barcelona, a very good but one of the most overrated football teams of recent times. As for Messi, when the occasion demanded it he choked. He's an overrated player and not even the best player in his own team!

I think this sums it up succinctly......

AS: "A tale of impotence" - "It was cruel and undeserved if we cling to aesthetics, but hard-won if we stick to the codes governing the professional world... Barca played better, but Chelsea were the better competitors."

Alexis Sanchez = ? Just what other strikers do they have? Even Villa doesn't really fit their system.

As for Valdes, Torres would never have scored had he been facing Peter Cech

Aim of the game is to score goals, everything else is just fan banter. Barca can juggle their nuts all night long but end result is all that counts.

A 5'7" partially-converted winger was probably not the best outlet for the dozens of 6' high crosses Barca produced, even when Chelsea's back-line was made up entirely of full backs.

Puyol would probably have had more luck.

The first paragraph i can totally agree with but the second paragraph is complete rubbish. Overrated football team, Messi overrated?

They are the best club side Ive seen and Messi is the best player I've ever seen. I am not a Barca fan by the way but some of the football in the first half was sublime. Of course you don't finish you leave yourself open and they don't defend the best.

Barca from the penalty miss on were devoid of ideas and it became obvious that Chelsea were so narrow and tight in front of the goal that Barca needed to go at speed down either wing and get behind Chelsea with some crosses (on the ground as not sure they can head the ball). Why they continued to try and thread passes through the 9 Chelsea players standing in front of goal on the edge of the 18 yd box is mystifying. Its true they have no plan B but there plan A is very very good and works most of the time. Torres scoring didn't really matter at the time because 2-1 or 2-2 they were out either way. Just meant Chelsea could celebrate a minute or two earlier.

Messi the best player you've ever seen? Wow, he's not even the best player in his team. For that the honours go to Xavi. As for Barcelona, when they achieve the kind of european dominance of a bayern, ajax, milan or real or even a liverpool then we can start talking

Surely there are some contradictions in there.

Of the four possible outcomes of the semis, this final is the worst possible outcome and will produce the most boring and negative game. Discuss
