Pilates in Zurich?

Hi all, I have been looking for a place to do Pilates in Zurich. In Australia I went to a place with a great setup where a physio gave us exercises (for the reformer and trapeze and some mat work) and then we did them in a group, supervised, and had a reassessment to see the physio again after about 10 sessions. Ended up not too expensive... does anyone know if there is anything at all similar to this here? All I can find is very expensive 'duo' or one on one sessions.
Thanks!!

Re: Pilates in Zurich?

Great idea.. I tried a 'duo' with a friend but it turns out this only really works if you're at a similar level etc. Could try and see if we can find a few people who it could work with.

I'd be in!
Did Pilates a few years back and really enjoyed it. But turned out to be far too expensive...

Re: Pilates in Zurich?

ok, let's try to find teachers who would be willing to teach us privately. regarding levels, i haven't done pilates for about 5 years, but i used to do it religiously before that. i'd prefer not to start at a basic level.

Sounds good, e.g. duo or trio lessons?

Re: Pilates in Zurich?

I can recommend Migrosklubschule pilates classes. I attended the Friday evening class in Oerlikon, and the instructor was really nice. It was my first pilates class, but there were people with all different levels of experience/fitness. I enjoyed it and would suggest trying one out in your neighbourhood.

The Migrosklubschule also has a 'try-out' day every once in a while. You pay about 40chf and can attend 3 different classes over the day to see how you like it. ie, pilates, zumba, balletfitness, bodytoning, bauch beine po etc.

Re: Pilates in Zurich?

Newby2,

most of the classes in Zurich are too expensive I know but please don't think of it this way. It is an investment in your health and after you get stronger and learn to do exercises correctly, without harming yourself (yes!) and getting the most from your routine, you will be able do a lot of them at home. You can attend classes until you feel confident and know enough to give yourself similar workout at home. I know the motivation is not the same and you have no machines/reformer but there is always Matt Pilates.

I just found this website and I think Lisa's experience not only in Pilates but in athletic medicine is very impressive and I think of visiting her soon.
You can find all info here: http://www.swisstwistpilates.com/
If you look at her prices it is not cheap of course (we are in Zurich right?) but still a bit cheaper than other places I checked out recently and Duo classes are only 55CHF per session so not that bad.
If you (or anyone else) would like to join her Duo Class I am up for it.

Re: Pilates in Zurich?

Did you guys manage to create this group? If not, I will be happy to contact Pilates teachers I know and ask if they would be able to teach us classes in English. If you are still up for it then send me a Pm and mention the time and days you will be willing to attend the class (do you prefer mornings, evening or weekends? How many days a week?), also the amount you are willing to pay for small group Pilates sessions so I can have an idea of what we are capable of paying, otherwise there is not much to talk about with these teachers. I am thinking of something between 40 and 50 CHF per person. I think it will be possible to organize this group but I need at least 4 determined individuals
