What do you want to know about the marathon that isn't on the website?

It's very flat and fast, and all on road / pavement. Goes round the lake to Meilen, then back. Aid stations are perfectly adequate.

Crowd support is not great and some might say it's a litle bit dull. But if you're looking to run a fast time, I'd say it's a good one to do.

Er -- what else?

Re: Marathon in Zurich (any info is welcome)

I ran the Zürich marathon in year 2010. I cannot really remember the exact route but they made us ran the newly constructed tunnel for about 9km, before leading us to the city all the way to the lake and back to the city. I thought the crowd support was superb, miles better than any races I ran in Asia. Minus the tunnel part, there were always people cheering us on all the way to the finish line. The route wasn't that fantastic, but it was one of my better marathon races.

Re: Marathon in Zurich (any info is welcome)

Hello,

Thank you very much for all the replies to my message and for the very useful information.
I have been training for the Marathon for a couple of months and I feel that I could participate in this race. It is good to know if this is a good start for a beginner Marathon-runner or if it is very demanding.

Thank you,
Best,

Nefeli

It must have been exciting to run through the tunnel, near the lake and in the city having people's encouragement ! ! Thank you for sharing your experience.

I guess that it was a flat race. Right? Viewing all the mountains and hills around Zurich made me think that the Marathon in Zurich would be complicate and uphill.

Best wishes for great marathons in the future!

Nefeli

Re: Marathon in Zurich (any info is welcome)

Hi Nefeli,

The tunnel run was a good warmup for me because the weather was very cold that morning. Running in an enclosed tunnel in the beginning made me sweat a little bit as I wasn't used to run in cold weather. The route was pretty flat for me, a few slopes here and there but they were manageable. Not sure if they changed the route, but I think the tunnel part is actually not a part of the original route.

Thanks ! This is my first marathon, been training a lot. If my knee stays happy I'm quietly confident. My aim is to finish, not setting myself a target time for the first pop. Apart from the 5:30 time limit of course ha, but it shouldn't come to that !

That's strange, I remember it being decidedly warm that day...
Best of luck to all those running
