Sailing

I am looking for somewhere to go sailing in lake Geneva, preferably based in Switzerland. Does anyone recommend any sailing schools in particular? I was hoping to be able to go out on a boat with a small group (we are experienced at sailing so either with or without an instructor, depending on whether it is obligatory).
Any tips greatly appreciated!

Re: Sailing

It's not so much a case of with or without an instructor as with or without a licence, depending on the size of boat. You need a Swiss licence to sail any boat with over 15 m2 sail area. With very few exceptions, non-Swiss licences are not recognised if you are resident. If you hold a Swiss licence, there is an equivalent scheme to Mobility for cars that operates for boats (I'll have to google to remember the name). Shame you're not up Zurich way - I might have had some ideas.

Re: Sailing

If you do manage to find a place on lake Geneva and need to find some more people, I would be interested.

Hoz.ch is quite good, however get ready to part with around 2000 Chuff.

Re: Sailing

Don't know where on the lake you're located, but if it's near the south end, there is a beginners sailing school and also a place to rent boats on the left bank at the port of Geneva.

If you're interested, I'll make note of the name and contact info the next time I drive by.

Re: Sailing

Based in Les Collons in the 4 Vallees. Normally arrive head on to the East side of the lake at Aigle etc. Can go either way so would definitely be interested in the name if it is not too much trouble.

Thanks a lot.

Five to eight three hour blocks @ 400 Chuff's a block, unless you have your own boat, then, if you feel ready you can use that, sadly I was not ready this year, some bugger had nicked my outboard and a new Bodensee one with Bodensee conformations papers and a exhaust emission certificate is just too expensive.

Re: Sailing

Hey all,

www.lemanloisirs.ch
www.lescorsaires.ch

I don't know much about either of these, but they are both on the lakefront walk in Geneva, just up from the fountain. There are others, but I just happened to walk by these on Sunday and jotted down the websites.

Edit; just realized the first one is probably motorboats only, oops!
