Sledging

Where are the best sledging runs in Switzerland? We want to try some new places with long runs. Any thoughts welcome. Thanks

Here is your answer....

It's in English too.

Grindelwald has the longest run in Europe.

Re: Sledging

Les Diablerets has a really fun 14km trail.

Also, use the search function in the top right and you'll get many more results.

Happy sledding!

Re: Sledging

thanks for your replies. does anyone know if the walk to the start of the Grindelwald run is a hard one? thinking about doing it with my parents who are more than able to walk but probably wouldn't appreicate a 2.5hour hardcore trek!

Grindlewald has a bit of a walk to the start.

Rigi is the best one near Zug. Not too fast but wide and nets on the cliffs and the start is right by the side of the train station. The Zugerberg run was a bit fast last Sunday for me with my daughter but there were many people there Friday night for night sledding.

The longest one i've done at night is from Fiescheralp - Lax - 13kms with a few avalanches that we had to walk around on the way.

The Preda-Bergün sled run is a bit flat in some places but some of the best scenery i've seen: http://www.berguen-filisur.ch/erlebnisse-aktivitaeten

We got to the bottom and took a chair lift up and did the Darlux-Bragün - the fastest one in Switzerland. http://www.berguen-filisur.ch/erlebn...x-berguen.html - definitely not for your parents though!!

Re: Sledging

Make sure to get good insurance - at the last one, the company informed us that sledging is not a hobby or a leisurerly occupation/fun thing to do as a tourist, it's a sport! (--> great way for them to get out of paying...!)

Ow. But your standard Employer's accident insurance (SUVA or other) should pay for it anyway, not your own health insurance.

Yes, if I had the accident - but it was the visitor.. she snapped two ligaments on one leg --> daily anti-blood-cloth shots, operation after arrival back home and lengthy treatment just to walk and sit normal again.. And the insurance backed out, of course..

Still, it's great fun!

Re: Sledging

If you can go mid-week! It's a lot more fun and a lot less scary when the runs aren't so crowded.

I second Bergun! I think the runs opened this week
