Hotel recommendation for skiing Feb 14-17/18

My brother is coming down from Denmark for some skiing and I wanted to take him to one of the larger swiss resorts. I have been searching in Verbier, Davos, Zermatt etc. but I am not sure where would be ok to stay and still being close.

Looks like it is a busy week. I am ok with paying a little more for the room. Any recommendations?

We don't mind a short drive to the slopes.

Re: Hotel recommendation for skiing Feb 14-17/18

We are still looking for hotels for the above dates +/-. We would like to ski Verbier but with the school break it seems tough to find a hotel. Searching their website I get the following 3 options, would they be ok?

1 Le Gietroz
Location: Le Châble

2 L'Escale
Location: Le Châble

3 Au Bivouac de Napoléon
Location: Bourg-St-Pierre

We are new to CH so not so familiar with the larger areas to ski. But suggestions around Zermatt, Davos, St. Moritz or others would also be great

I'm sure any of the above will be "OK", but you're not too likely to find personal recommendations for them here.

One I _would_ recommend, having just spent a week leading a holiday there, isn't in your list of resorts, but the Sunstar Surselva in Flims is absolutely superb. All of my group were blown away by the genuine friendly and helpful nature of manager and staff. Food excellent, rooms large and charming, private minibus to the slopes... Really, one of the nicest places I can remember staying, _ever_ (and that's saying a lot).

Flims is a great ski area too, lots of info available about it and has been discussed here recently.

Not stayed in any of the 3 hotels- but can confirm that Le Chable is a great location, as in much cheaper and quieter than Verbier - and if you take the bubble-cars at Le Chable, you avoid the big queues in Verbier - no need to change, just stay on to the top.

If you want to ski Verbier, you can also look at any of the linked resorts. My recommendation would be for Haute-Nendaz- depending on snow coverage and your ski ability you can get to the Verbier area via Plan du Fou, or take the free bus to Siviez, and from there easily get to Lac des VAux and the whole of the Verbier area. And from Siviez you can also go the other way, to Veysonnaz and the great world cup famous Piste de l'Ours, and on to Thyon 2000. And back - so Veysonnaz and Thyon 2000 are also great possibilities, and much cheaper than Verbier.

One of the cheaper Hotel in Haute Nendaz is Le Déserteur, another more trendy one, Le Mont Fort.

This looks great, unfortunately they only accept reservation for 5 days during that time, maybe later in the year..

Re: Hotel recommendation for skiing Feb 14-17/18

We have just come back from a 3 day trip to Davos, which was simply great.

We booked last minute and ended up staying at Solaria (http://www.solaria.ch/) which was OK (clean, new, cheap parking and central), but not great because of service. Friends stayed at Parkhotel and loved it (http://parkhotel-davos.sunstar.ch/home-en-US/)

Overall, I would highly recommend Davos because of the slopes and the size of the town itself. Have fun exploring, wherever you go!
