Body Building

Hello everyone,

I will be moving to Zurich sometime in March and would like to know if there are any gyms or fitness centers where they have personalized training for body building and if so how much it would cost. I can do this only in the evening as I will be working during daytime.

Thanks in advance !

Cheers !

P

Re: Body Building

Check out Holmes Place - they are quite likely to offer the service. They used to do it at Silhouette in Stadelhofen but I think the trainer left.....

Re: Body Building

I was also thinking if there would something like that outside the city preferably accessible via S2 line somewhere between Zurich and Ziegelbrücke

Totally agreed. Anyway i just want to say one thing that bodybuilding is a best activity because it is my favorite. I am also a bodybuilder so everyone should do this.
It seems to be affecting your ability to write a coherent sentence however. Maybe you need a bigger keyboard for those massive fingers of yours?

I am also a smug horticultural expert, so everyone should do this.

Re: Body Building

There are plenty of Gyms around Zurich......you will be amazed at how under-equipped and overpriced they are! Honestly, ive never seen anything like it!

Where abouts are you coming from? You should be warned that the Swiss train very very odd, so be prepared to give someone a telling off for hogging equipment....the swiss really need to learn, that you cant put your towel down on something then go and use another machine for 15 minutes.

It is normal to see a Swiss guy stomping up and down the gym doing 8 -12 reps on completely random machines, with no regards to muscle groups, splits or sets whatsoever.

Thanks, that's good to know. My idea of going to gym is to have that personal guidance at the beginning being a newbie so that I'm sure of what I'm doing with both workouts and diet...

That is a good idea, but i have never done that.

I spend sseveral hours every week browsing forums and bodybuilding sites to stay in the loop.

I also read several big thick books before starting out.

I now train with my smartphone and use an app called Jefit to track my workouts. Also if i am doing an exercise i have never done before it gives me isntructions and a video aswell.

After 7 years, i pretty much know how to do everything, but i still watch the vids and read the guides to make sure my form is 100%

Re: Body Building

That level of personalised service here in Zurich is going to cost you an arm and a leg.

I would recommemnd you find urself an experienced gym partner and learn that way instead.

Well, the two i specifically remember are:

Encyclopedia of Bodybuilding
New Rules of Lifting

The was also one called building the perfect beast...or something like that?

I also subscribed to mens health magazine and muscle and strength for a few months.

This gave me a good base, a good understanding of what was what.

After that i just started to use the internet. Everything is available online, as you guys probably know.

Actually, i can highly recommend reading these two guides, they are very good.

Jefit is fantastic. Perfect way to keep track of your progress and also learn new moves etc.

The first week you use it, it will add 10 mins onto your workout times. After that, no problem, it will actually save you time.
