American College Football

Ok, I know this is probably futile, but does anyone know of any bars in ZH that show American college football on TV?

I know that I can get many games over the internet, but I would love to watch in a more social setting with some other Michigan fans.

(I'd even watch with Notre Dame or-deep breath-Ohio State fans if it meant that I got see the games on a bigger screen than my laptop.)

Anybody know anywhere?

Re: American College Football

I'm glad to hear that someone has NFL on the tele here in Zürich. I've been watching it via my Slingbox on my laptop, but 15" is not enough to really enjoy it.

el Jefe - if we find somewhere that has college ball on the tele, would you be up for watching THE Ohio State University take on Michigan? I'm from Columbus and there is never a better game during the year than Michigan vs. Ohio State!

Marchal-

tOSU vs. UM? I'd love to.

Winner buys the last round (loser has enough to be sad about )

Re: American College Football

I'll be happy to buy the last round with UM's record against a winning season of tOSU.

Now if we can find a place that shows it. I've asked around here at work, but everyone looked at me if I just said "aölksfjalskgjasjgj". I smiled and said, "Don't worry about it. We'll figure something out."

Re: American College Football

Yeah, that's been the general reaction when I've asked, too. Some people have said something along the line that there has to be a place, since Zurich is getting more international all the time.

But if no one here knows of anything, I'm not that hopeful.

If you can get ORF1 (Austrian TV channel 1), you may be interested in knowing that they will be showing live a Monday Night game (I believe it's one of four they will be broadcasting this season):

Tue 10-Oct 1:50AM San Diego Chargers - Pittsburgh Steelers

It's usually broadcast in German/English.

Do a search of NFL at http://tv.orf.at/search to find out more.

Re: American College Football

Nice to see another Buckeye in Zürich! I guess this means we outnumber the UM fans! Now if we can just find a place to watch the games, life would be better.

Re: American College Football

Wow, I'm starting to get out numbered, huh? I got a lead on a place called the Lion something that is off of Bahnhofstrasse behind the English bookstore that may show some college football games on Saturdays. It's at least worth checking it out.

Re: American College Football

I just did a little research and found their website http://www.thelion.ch

I wish they had a list of the games they would be showing.

Are there any bars showing the MLB playoffs? If so, anyone have any interest? I'm a Tigers fan, but I'll watch anything. I get them at home on NASN, but it would be nice to watch out at the bar.

If you go to The Lion, have their burger with cheese, egg and bacon. It's the best burger in Zurich, in mine and many of my friend's opinions.

I've been watching them on NASN as well. The problem, of course, is that last night the game started at 10pm, and tonight it starts at 2am.

Whoops, just did another check, and it's the Sunday Night game (early Monday morning here), so:

Mon 09-Oct 1:50AM San Diego Chargers - Pittsburgh Steelers

Re: American College Football

Hi!! I just moved to Zurich with my fiance a month ago and found your forum. You guys have great stuff on here!! As a die hard Notre Dame fan (sorry el Jefe!!) I have been trying to find bars in Zurich that play American college football too...the two that I was sent to were Iroquis and Nelsons, which apparently both have Skye tv (the North American package) and are more than willing to put the games on (my fiance emailed the manager or Iroquis and we spoke to the bartenders at Nelsons) the problem is that Skye only seems to carry SEC games (you can go to the skye website and see what games they have)....so that doesn't do us midwest football fans too much good.....

Big 10 football is certainly the best, Go Illini! If you guys find anywhere in Zurich to watch games, I may even make it up there one weekend for it.
