| | | Zurich Indoor Football League
Dear All,
We are in the process of setting up an indoor 5-a-side (7 players max.) league in Zurich. We will run this as a league from August - December and January - May. As I mentioned, we are in the process of setting everything up. There will be a fee per game or discount for the entire season however, for the time being, we are looking for interest more than commitment.
Please let me know if you think you'd be in a position to enter a team and have one person as a nominated contact person, email me.
Thanks,
Wolfgang and Sam

Happy to join. Not remotely good enough to start my own team, but will work hard and try my best for anyone who will have me |

Hey Guys,
So it would seem right now, that we have about 30 players. I will keep everyone informed with information as things become a bit clearer. Right now, it looks like we could have 2 gyms for two hours a week. However, this would be in Baden (very close to the station though). We have been very active in trying to find two gyms that are close to a station and no further than 15 minutes from the HB. We have secured one qualified ref already and are still looking for a second one. The league will have sponsorship and we are in the process of looking into bi-yearly award ceremonies, etc. Right now, we are thinking of making the price around 100 CHF per team per night or a discounted rate for the whole season (or half the season). Ideally, we would want 6 teams and host 3 games per evening (around 45 minutes a game).
I will keep you all up to date.
Hope this helps.
Cheers,
Wolfgang and Sam

Hi,
The idea is 5-a-side (teams consisting of 7 players to have 2 subs). However, we could also consider making it 6-a-side, depending on numbers and what is wanted.
As of right now, during the week would probably work best for people (start at 19:00 and go to 21:00). However, there is a possibility of having the two gyms on either Saturday or Sunday for the whole day, possibly running the league then or, having make-up games on those days.
Cheers,
Wolfgang

Hallo Wolfgang,
do you already create a list with the names of the people that are interested?
If no, I think we should start to make one if not the number of partecipants will never be precise.
And once we have the list, we can create the teams directly out of it...

Thanks. I'm definitely interested. Depending on the details I maybe able to get a team together depending on the details.
Sorry I deleted the question of how many players are allowed. I saw you mentioned 5 a side in your first sentence so thought the question was irrelevant. I think for a 45 min match one really needs to have 2 subs so if you decide to go with 6 players it maybe worth letting the teams consist of 8 members.

Hi,
At this stage I don't see why women/ mixed teams wouldn't be allowed. At the end of the day, our idea is to offer the expats in and around Zurich, a competitive indoor football league. As log as the standard and competition is good for all, gender and age are irrelevant.
As for how many players, this is also not as important right now although, from experience, 5-a-side with 2 subs (so 7 in total), is an ideal number.
I am reluctant to put a list up at this stage as I'd prefer whole teams to enter. I do however also want to enable individuals, who may not be part of a team at the beginning, to join. The way this would work is that we would draw up the league and then decide how to make the teams with individual players after. We would start the season with a pre-season "grading" day. This would allow us to place teams in order of their ability which, would then allow the season to be as fair as possible.

(first come first serve ) | | | | | ciao Andrea,
(in English since this is an English forum ), I'm a 30 yo Italian who has moved to Switzerland last July, and I'd like to be part of the team. I had played for about a dozen years in Italy in 5, 7, and 11-a-side football as a forward or left wing. If you already have set up ur own team instead, then maybe there is some other spots available in other teams, just let me know. Cheers, Mirko

Hi,
Yes, at this moment in time, it looks very unlikely that we will be able to secure a gym (let alone two), in Zurich itself. The connection by train from HB is only about 14 minutes and the gym is a 5 minute walk from the station in Baden.
Seeing that there is already a huge level of interest, we could maybe move forward the timing and start some games (only friendly and not for the league) before August....
I will see where we are at for the gyms and what needs to be done.
Cheers all for your interest.
Please, if you are already certain, send me a private message with your team name and the members. Please include your email adress and phone number so I can start making a spreadsheet.
Cheers,
Wolfgang
