Hi - I have just been offered a job in basel (as of yesterday!), and am deciding at the moment if I am going to take it. I play field hockey, whats the standard like in basel? I play for witney (UK) which isnt a massive team but a pretty good standard
Do you guys play normal seasons i.e Sept - Apr?
How old are the players kids or 18+ i.e do you guys go for beers after - as this is one of the best parts about playing hockey!
Hey! The men team in Basel plays for the second league in Switzerland (season starts end of august), what is okay but - given the fact that there're just around 20 teams in Switzerland - not a level to compare to different countries in Europe. They certainly stay for a beer after training and always are a good company... For playing with the men team, contact email@example.com or firstname.lastname@example.org. they're responsible for the men team and surely can give you all the things to know about the team. And for the rest, there's www.bhc.ch, but the page's in German... Hope to see you soon on the pitch
Hi there - I am looking to play in Basel and have been in touch with someone from this club. I am wondering where in Basel I can buy a stick? Also, the best way to get to the pitch from the Gundeli/MParc area?
Sorry that it took me a while. To buy a stick in Basel is actually impossible, but Julia from the club takes orders for stuff and delivers it to the Training (see http://www.fastplay.ch/ for what she sells).
The best way to go to the pitch from Gundeli is taking the bus nr 36 to Tinguely Museum and then change to the bus nr 31 to Sportzentrum Rankhof.
Hi there, my daughter has missed her hockey since we left Ireland. I tried calling a number on the site when we first got here but didn't follow up. Can she just come along and if so, when and where? FYi, 14 years old, good standard, plays centre normally. many thanks F
At the moment, we're having a winterbreak, but will be back on the pitch by the beginning of March. As the new training times are not clear yet, I'll have to get in touch with you as soon as we know them.
I hope it's okay for you if you hear from me by the end of February?
Basler Hockey Club 1911 is looking for new field hockey-players for the new Season starting in mid August 2012. If you just moved to Basel and are keen to get on the pitch, just get in touch with me. Or if you live in Basel for a while and kind of forgot about hockey... get in touch as well. We've got friendly men’s and lady's teams as well as junior-teams of every age-group.
Oh, and the ladies are looking for a new coach, so how knows, if you want to coach a great ladies team in the top Swiss league... Get in touch as well!
For further information, check out www.bhc.ch (sorry, only available in German)

Hello there! Thanks foryour interest and sorry for the waiting for my answer, I've been on holiday... The first men teamconsists mainly of Basler players, but there are other nationalities as well (currentlyas German, French, Austrian, Pakistani). In the second men team there are loadsof different nationalities next to the Swiss players (including Dutch and English speaking ones), and they are all verywelcoming and friendly and not afraid of speaking English… And it’s the same inthe two lady teams. So feel free to come along to training and see for yourselfif you like it or not. Training starts at the beginning of August again, asthere’s currently the summer holiday break. If you’re interested don’t hesitateto contact me.
