Drop in Gym Classes

Hi there, I was writing to see if anyone knows about a drop in gym that has classes like boot camp, barre, yoga and other 1 hour classes you just buy as you go. If you know of anything please send a long, I don't want to sign a long term gym contract but can't seem to find any gym that offers such a model.

Re: Drop in Gym Classes

I think many gyms have this offer but they don't advice it openly. Probably because they want people to join the gym. Maybe it's easiest if you just try and call and ask them if you can buy "Zehnereintrittt" Gruppenabo or something along these lines. I don't think you will find anything if you use the term drop in gym.

Hi, i would also recommend that you search deindeal or groupon, they sometimes sell yoga classes at certain gyms...

You could try asking if this is possible at the ETH/University of Zurich gym club (ASVZ: http://portal.asvz.ethz.ch/english/Seiten/default.aspx). I believe they have something possible for occasional gym users and they have a large class selection. Hope that helps.

I agree - The trick may be how you ask, and I've found that often gyms and yoga studios sell a 10-class-pass (as mentioned)... and often they call it by the abbreviated terms like "Zehner" or "Abo".

If you like Boot Camp you might also like Crossfit - There are a few around Zurich which usually offers "Abo's" and they often offer yoga classes too.

Re: Drop in Gym Classes

Sometimes they want a pauschal with the Abo, I got a trial bodypump class with some gym in Zurich (which is often free) then after the class I said it was good and could I have the 10'er ABO please, but they then wanted to charge 125 on top, the good news was I wouldn't have to pay the 125 on any future ABO purchases. I didn't buy the Abo.

I know lots of smaller providers that offer drop in classes. They often give much better and more flexible offers than the bigger gym chains like Holmes Place. Boot camp, metafit, pilates, barre concept, and various other kinds of fitness classes are all possible as drop in classes at the providers I work with. I work with No Excuses (bootcamp and metafit), Ghetto Gym (many different types of fitness classes incl Cross Yoga and Ghetto Parcours), Strictly Fitter (Barre Concept and Pilates) and others. PM me if you want to know more. If you can find a group of people interested in doing Metafit classes on Tuesday or Thursday mornings from 7.30 to 8am at Hallenbad City then I can probably get you a good deal. The usual price is 20CHF (excluding Hallenbad entry) but if there are a group of you this might be able to be negotiated as the room has a massive capacity.
