Paragliding pilot looking for fly-mates

Hi All,
my name's Alessandro, I'm from Italy and I recently moved to Zürich.
I've been Paragliding quite regularly for the last three years and now that I'm in Switzerland I'm looking for some companion pilots that interested in Cross-Country flights (most people I know do hike&fly, but my equipment is too heavy for that!).
Is there anybody there that is interested in organizing some flying days in the weekends?

A.

Re: Paragliding pilot looking for fly-mates

Hi Alessandro welcome, I'm Italian too. Me and my wife do some light hiking and we would like try paragliding for the first time.
We see paragliding on every hiking, everywhere.
On Rigi, for example or Ebenalp too we saw many people doing that. Usually people go to the top with the train or cabin and fly down.
We are little scared but also interested.
Do you have some suggestion how to start?
Bye

Hi!
About paragliding: it's really easy to learn and not at all dangerous (if you follow the rules of course!).
The best and only way to learn is with a paragliding school. Getting a license takes few month, but really intense (you need to spend quite a lot of time during the school period).
After you get a license you can do hike&fly (with light equipment), distance flights or acrobatics (if you have the guts ).
My suggestion is to go to a school, talk with them and do a tandem flight (the instructor pilots, and you just enjoy the flight).
In Zürich there's the school paraworld.ch. I don't know them well, but they seem nice.
I hope you'll try: it's a great experience!

I trained with Paraworld, and can thoroughly recommend them. The beginner slopes are close to Zürich and the high flights are typically around central Switz., with less than 45min travel time. The school also runs a bus which takes folk directly from Zurich.
Come and join the fun.

Alessandro, I regularly fly in/around central Switz. and occasionally do XC in central Switz, Wallis, and Lower Engadine. My old school also organises regular meet-ups for qualified pilots (have look at: https://www.facebook.com/groups/250021368392485/). If this does not fill your sail, then there are several clubs in N.Switz. (see: https://www.shv-fsvl.ch/verband/klubs/)

Happy landings!
