parking in Verbier/4 vallees area ??

Hi everyone

I am planning to ski in the Verbier/4 Vallees area for the first time this Sunday. Anyone have any tips on where is best to park, in terms of ease, access, cost etc... Verbier itself or Nendaz, Tzoumaz etc.

Thank you!

Felix

Park at Le Charble for free & take the lift up to Verbier.

Le Chable below Verbier- huge free car-park and bubble up and avoid the Verbier queues as you do not have to change at Verbier. Brilliant.

Nendaz is of course accessed via a totally different route, along the Rhône Valley- same resort, but other side of the mountains. Parking in Nendaz is rubbish- so turn left in middle of village to go up to Siviez-Super Nendaz- and there is a very large free car park at the top near the lifts. From there, you are in the middle of the 4 Vallées- and have access to Verbier via Glacier, or Tortin (do not ski the Wall coming back unless you are an expert- you can take the bubble down and watch the experts coming down, and the idiots breaking limbs) - or can go left via Chair to Veysonnaz and La Piste de l'Ours and Thyon- although the return is a bit tedious and involves long traverses with some skating/pushing.

Actually Odile, it is Le Châble in Val de Bagnes which was the largest commune in Switzerland (282km2) until formation of Glarus Süd in 2011, certainly formed to accomodate Dougal and his tribe !

Felix, if you are actually staying in Verbier, you should drive up the mountain and park at your apt./house. If you are not staying in the actual village of Verbier or one of the smaller villages on the way up the road, you should do as everybody else has said and park in La Châble and take the gondola up and down from the station.

As I am coming to the end of a 7 day vacation in Nendaz tomorrow, I'm going to have to disagree with the statement that its central to the four valleys. Geographically, yes, but in reality Siviez is the centre. Connecting via the pistes is impossible the past few days because of conditions, but even when it's open, by far the best way to get to any other valley is take the bus to Siviez, as the piste connections essentially require you to (slowly) traverse to Siviez anyway before you can get elsewhere.

Verbier is anyway the best of the resorts. I can't believe how poor the infrastructure is across the rest of the four valleys - I miss the planning of the resorts in the east!

Edit: Missed the Siviez reference in the quoted post, only saw Nendaz, so rant irrelevant.

Re: parking in Verbier/4 vallees area ??

This is the page you want. Parking can be VERY expensive in Verbier if you park in the wrong place, but you can park in the Perin car-park free for 24hours and then 5 SFr per day after that. Perin is within walking distance of most parts of town, and there's a free bus service during the day.

Re: parking in Verbier/4 vallees area ??

Terrible spelling in these posts... it is Le Châble and coming from Lausanne is your best option.

I can confirm that Haute Nendaz is not the way to go. If you want that part of the mountain take Siviez as others have said. Starting at Siviez is actually quite nice. I can also confirm not to take the Wall back down as I have climbed back up that piste last year. My friend continued down but he is still a bit white around the nose... Actually it is not even a piste. it is a liaison
