Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Hi - I have 2 sets of adult skis with poles, both sets are 183 cm. One is a “Rossignol Dualtec” and the other is a “Kastle C09”. I don't know much about skis and I got them free, so I'm planning to sell them and give the money to charity. If anyone could give me a rough idea of what they're worth I'd appreciate it.

Nothing. I'd guess they are at least 15 years old.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

The poles might be worth 5 CHFs but the skis are garbage. Somebody might be stoked to get them in Macedonia (or the like) though. If you are passing through, leave them in a ski rack and somebody might take them.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Second hand shops usually sell old skis, so why not give them to a charitable "Brockenhaus" such as Heilsarmee or HIOB

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Ok fair enough. Excuse my ignorance but what makes them worthless - is it that the bindings are old and no longer fit modern boots?

Assuming someone had boots that fit the bindings, what's to stop the skis getting down a hill the same way they would have 10 or 15 years ago?

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Ski technology has totally changed.

These skis are from when carving skis were just coming in and straight skis were going out. New piste skis are shorter with a smaller radius.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Ok thanks. Wouldn't they still do as a spare set for the occasional amateur skier to save on rental costs?

Not sure if this analogy fits but my car is almost 30 years old and doesn't have power steering. Driving technology has also changed a lot in the past number of years, but it still drives perfectly, gets me where I want to go, and I wouldn't part with it for the world.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

Your skis are only worth what someone is willing to pay for them.
Most people wont pay anything for old, out-dated, second hand skis - someone might be willing to pay a nominal fee, for charity ......... but you will waste so much time and effort trying to find that one person.

Best suggestion, so far, is to give them to a recognised charitable, 2nd hand shop ....... if they'll take them.

Same applies to your car analogy, above - it has a practical worth to you, but very little (if any) monetary, resale value.

You will still see skiers on the slopes with such skis, but when they're finished with them, they'll bin 'em.

Suppose its all about how you feel after getting from A to B with skis or cars.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

If people still have skis like this in the cellar it's often because they don't want to pay the charge for putting them out for the rubbish collection.

And that is probably why someone gave them to you and didn't sell them to you or someone else.

I have complete respect for "That Guy" who shows up rocking skis like this and still wearing his ski clothes from the same era. For the most part "That Guy" is a very good skier who looks like his boots are glued together and can make it down pretty much any slope with ease. The problem is, when "That Guy" finally decides it's time to get new skis, he's not going to be looking for your skis. He can find a set that are a couple of years old for only 100 CHFs or so.

Your best bet would be to find that "Other Guy" who has no clue about skis and likes the colors of what you have to offer. Good luck with that.

Also unfortunately, the skis you have wouldn't even make a cool chair. I think there is a very good reason that you picked up these skis for free. I've got a few pairs that I would give you as well.

Re: Anyone know what these skis are worth?

They were probably left in the 'cave' by the previous owner, or on the roadside rubbish collection- as they are worthless- but I like BMXGRL's idea

.

Finally I see a constructive use for the English Forum ... The market sub-forum seems like the place..

Or offer them free on here, from reading the reports you'll have a load of time wasters with no shows and meet a bunch of interesting tyre kickers who have no interest in the ski's but in having a chat.
