Purchasing a indoor trainer for road bike- where is best to buy?

Hi all,

I am new to Luzern from Aus and want to purchase a indoor trainer for my road bike/triathlon bike.

I haven't met any triathletes yet, though I'm sure there are many around! So hopefully someone can help me here.

I have been thinking of purchasing a Wahoo kickr indoor trainer for awhile- (unless anyone says I am wasting my money and can get something cheaper/or just as good!)

Basically, I want to know if I can purchase this in Switzerland at a store, or am I just better off getting it online. I have seen in online in stores like bikester.ch

Either way does anyone have recommendations for a bike shop, or online store to buy?

If there is some sort of triathlon forum somewhere, or place my question is better suited, please let me know!

Many thanks!

Welcome Van... :-)

Have not seen any Wahoo kickers around.
I bought a cycleops power beam and can highly recommend it, bought it online from www.powercoach.ch but I think Temp Sports in Thalwil (on the Luzern - Zurich train line) also stock them . They are a good triathlon shop and also have an online shop

Online stores I like to use are veloplus.ch or chain reaction cycles.uk
Chain reaction usually works out a bit cheaper even if you factor in potential customs charges.

IMO be careful of Bikester.ch, only had one experience with them but it was suspect and I pulled out.

You could also take a look at www.biker-boarder.de. The deliver free to Switzerland.

Online is normally your best option, but my personal favourite (Wiggle) seems to be blocked from selling these into Switzerland, presumably due to licensing restrictions.

In fact the Apple Store comes up as the best price in Switzerland (use www.toppreise.ch to compare Swiss online sellers).

Re: Purchasing a indoor trainer for road bike- where is best to buy?

I recently bought Kurt Kinetic here: http://www.cycle-basar.de/ Delivery was fast (DHL), minus VAT, no complaints.

I also used bikester.ch for some small things, no complaints either.

Tempo Sport in Thalwil is nice, I actually bought a trainer tire for indoor trainings there, BUT everything is much more expensive than Cycle Basar. And products in their shop are more expensive that online. For example, training tire: Cycle Basar - EUR 22 (-VAT), Tempo Sport Online - CHF40, Tempo Sport Shop - CFH50.
