Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

Wavy shoulder length hair.

Easy peesy now. Wash, let it dry or use hairdryer.

Wash every other day. Use conditioner.

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

My hair was always short > very short; fine > very fine; blond > grey.
Shampoo, conditioner, mostly air dry. Hairdryer if in a desperate hurry to go out.
Look in mirror once or twice a week to see if it is time to have it cut again.
Forget the styling bit. Not my style!

And for the oldies on here -
Friday Night was Amami night.
The toothpaste they refer to here was Gibbs Dentifrice. Mine was the blue tin. Hairdryers were the hood-like things you could see through the window of the Hairdressing salon.

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

I use GHDs because my hair is naturally frizzy and not in a good way. People say to me, "leave it natural, wavy is good!" and then they see my hair natural and never mention it again, haha

I kind of get stuck after that, I'm crap at putting it into any style other than hanging loose or ponytail. I can't abide pretty side fringes (because they get in my eyes). At the moment I have dark roots 2cm long because I don't know what to do with it regarding colour.

I'm really not a "hair" sort of person, sometimes it just annoys me and I have on more than one occasion seriously contemplated shaving it all off

Friday night was Amami night....brilliant! Don't remember the product, but remember most of the rest, unfortunately
Pixie - don't shave it all off. I was bald once and it did nothing for me at all - rather have styling problems.

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

I absolutely need to dry my hair every time I wash it, else I get a terrible headache. I use a Remington hair diffuser and note that as it is quite powerful (and noisy), it dries super fast; my shoulder-length hair gets dry within 3 minutes. One thing I also like with a diffuser is that it "straightens" my hair as well. It is not as good as a GHD straightener, but saves me from having to do the drying and straightening ritual, I needed before I bought the hair diffuser.

What does "the bag lady" look like? Google isn't very enlightening.

Some women look beautiful with their heads shaved. OP, if you fall in this category, why not?

Google is REALLY enlightening about bag ladies. You have to Google images rather than web. I look like most of them if I don't style my hair. I didn't lose it by choice, it was illness-related. And I look seriously uncool without hair, though I agree that some women look quite beautiful.

I've been bald too. I don't recommend it. My head felt slimy. I guess you get used to it over time. (I was bald for three months)

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

I have wavy, past the shoulders, fine (though a lot of it) hair. I have to wash every second day or they get really shiny. I mostly use natural shampoo and conditioner or Kerastase when I've coloured my hair.

Up until 2-3 years ago I did nothing with my hair but ponytails. I now blow dry is with a round brush after washing (and using a leave in - mostly Kerastase Chroma Thermique). It's pretty simple once you get the hang of it. You need a good brush and a very good blowdryer. Divide your hair into 3-5 and you're golden.

Now if I don't blow dry I get frizz-mania.

I can't get on with blow drying, and as I have recently grown my frizzy hair to shoulder length I can't decide between an airstyler or straighteners.

What do you use, and why ? Exact model details would really help. Many thanks.
Shampoo, lots of conditioner (i have long mad curly hair which I generally dye), product (heat protect mousse, gel or other, generally Redken), blow dry. All this is done as quickly as possible and I then generally knot the whole lot on top of my head with a covered elastic band. If I'm feeling fancy, I twist or plait the top half of it and leave the rest to wander where it will!

I use a conditioner for curly hair. I claense my hair with it and use it as a leave in to. Air dry or diffuse depending on how rushed I am...

I have very curly hair. I wash, dry and straighten it every second day. The straightener isn't great for my hair, but my hair tends to be very frizzy otherwise.

Does anyone have a source for moisturizing conditioner in a CH brick and mortar store which doesn't cost an arm and a leg?

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

Hi,

I've started using Klorane products and they just really made a difference to the styling process. After a wash with conditioner, they're so easy to style, I just straighten them a bit and they hold well all day.
Never had it so easy with an other products. They have reasonable ingredients too. And they're easily available here.

I don't, I'm sorry, but I can really recommend Redken stuff (expensive, but not too expensive for here) as it lasts a LONG time. Their Anti Snap stuff is amazing - my UK hairdresser got me on to it about 9 years ago and it's brilliant for protecting. Then any old conditioner works well!

To be honest, GlowJupiter, I find that ANY conditioner, if a decent amount is well worked through the hair (and even combed through) and left for a time (wrap your wet treated hair in a towel for a bit) works well.

I'll keep my eye out next time I'm shampoo-shopping (!) and get back to you.

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

I have mid length crazy wavy hair. Normally I let it air dry, but when I do use the blow dryer, I use the Tangle Teezer blow styler brush. It gets my hair super straight and adds lots of volume, and is a lot easier to use then a round brush.

I have long fine curly hair: I've used an afro comb for years, never a brush. A brush is a sure fire shortcut to distressing frizz...

I love it when people ask me this. I think I have a super efficient hair care regiment.

I take a shower and wet my hair. I apply conditioner and rinse; i do not use shampoo. I make sure the conditioner has no silicons and look for one with cetyl alcohol. I towel dry and brush it. I then either put it in a ponytail or a bun to dry. About six hours later, the bun or ponytails starts to bother me, so I put it down.

EDIT: Generally, the cheapest conditioners work best. Always look at ingredients!

Re: One for the ladies. How do you style your hair?

Thank you all for your input. There are almost as many different methods as there are posters. In the end I bought the Braun Satin Hair 5 - love it !

As for shampoo and conditioner - have recently started using the Marseillais range. Like it more than the more expensive products I used before.
