Skiing in early April... where?

Well, I am planning a weekend trip to ski late in the season. To be honest - I don't think I ever went that late. How high in altitude do I need to plan to be (relatively) safe?

Id prefer not to drive all the way to Zermatt from Zurich. And I am looking for a hotel thats a bit more than the norm: luxurious, boutique... but ideally not that 70s alpine theme...

P.S> I cannot change the title but I honestly hate my new Swiss keyboard.

Re: Skiing in earlz April... where?

Well it is roughly 3 weeks, in some areas they got 3.60 meters of snow(saas fee, andermatt), mainly above 2000 meters you should be able to get skiing.
So you can choose interlaken, andermatt, or saas fee.Depends on your budget, you can can go up to 700 sfr per night.

Does it have to be Switzerland or Austria okay? Soelden is high enough to guarantee some snow

What do you think about Ischgl? A little less high than Soelden, but therefore on the north face, which should keep the snow better? (I guess a bit like Engelberg in that regard?)

I've even enjoyed the high parts of Pizol during its last days some seasons, so late March. Down it was slushy at parts, but up high it was pretty nice.

You can change the input language and for US/UK english the letters are the typical QWERTY layout with different locations for the symbols. You can also select any layout you want with any language you want, regardless of the actual physical keyboard. So you could even have a french AZERTY physical keyboard and type out in Dvorak if you wanted to. All it takes is to remember where the symbols are

Re: Skiing in earlz April... where?

I was pleased to get a new English, albeit US, keyboard until I looked for some keys which weren't there any more. It's not an extended keyboard!

Skied Saas Fee Easter last year. When we arrived there wasn't much snow and then it snowed so much they closed the mountain.

Re: Skiing in earlz April... where?

I booked Soelden. Simply based on the fact they they already plan with a much longer season than many others - if the lift company decides to run their operations four weeks longer than say St Moritz do I guess this should be relatively safe. That the place was 90% booked out while many others seem to be easily available was just another good sign...

Title fixed. I know the y/z pain myself. I work in a few languages and know how annoying it is to switch the keyboard every 2 min.
