Re: Olympic swimming pool in geneva

Geneva - probably not Olympic specification - too few lanes I think.
Regular 'certified' Indoor 50m pool Les Vernets
Piscine des Vernets
Rue Hans-Wilsdorf 4-6
1227 Acacias
Tel. +41 (0)22 418 40 00
Outdoor 'certified' 50m pool in Lancy
Piscine de Lancy
Avenue Eugène-Lance 30
1212 Grand-Lancy
Tel. +41 (0)22 794 22 11

Certified means that all lanes are at least 50m long even with the electronic touch pads. You'd be surprised how many pools have a couple of lanes that are too short! Even in Switzerland.
Most towns in Switzerland are to be found under www.nameoftown.ch but of course, even under sports, it doesn't necessarily say how long the pools are.
If you need more details that you can't find yourself get in touch again.

There's also a 50m outdoor pool full of serious swimmers at the Meyrin sports center, not far from CERN. It's all lanes with different speeds. Maybe that's standard. I went with a serious triathlete and tried not to drown.

Sorry I seem to have got it muddled. I thought you were asking about pools because you wanted to swim! If you want your feet on the ground, I'd advise you to go hiking.

Re: Olympic swimming pool in geneva

Hi lindalee....

On average I swim about 3 times a week. I go on Tuesdays/ Wednesdays and Fridays and Sundays.

The pool I go to is the arcasias one on Rue Hans-Wildorf. It is excellent. 5.50CHF for as long as you like, and it shuts at 8pm most days and sometimes 9pm.

On Mondays and Thursdays, they have club night so it shuts at 5pm. I am yet to get into the club swimming. Partly because I don't speak much French yet, and also partly because I think you have to be there at 5, and lastly because I am just working on fitness at the moment.

If you need a partner/someone to show you around I am more than happy to help.

Best wishes

nick

Olympic swimming pool in geneva: anything for women only?

Hello!
speaking of swimming... does anyone know if there is a women-only swimming pool around Geneva? Or if one of the mentioned ones has some opening hours only for women?

Thank you for your help!
