do they have aerobic classes? i am more into it.

Last week when i was in cinema before the movie plays, there was an advertisement of a gym with 49 chf/months. But i forgot its name. can anyone help me with this?
I haven't seen any classes there at all.

You may want to check Let's Go Fitness. They do have a many classes and the gym in Lausanne is brand new and very fresh. Hope this helps.

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

I've been going to Life Club in Malley since May and I'm very happy.
I initially went for their Fit Boxe course, since I had been doing martial arts but wasn't happy with any of the schools I tried here, but then I also took up Zumba. Since I got a 6-month membership, I also participate in the muscular reinforcement courses, body sculpt, interval pump, etc.

You can either get a card for 10 sessions, for 160CHF, or a 6-month membership. Usually it costs 590, but in december and july there's a 490 chf offer...

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

While looking for an apartment, I wanted to find somewhere that was close to a Gym. I already had a Silhouette membership, so I made up this google map with all the Silhouette fitness clubs marked.

If you find it useful give it a +1

Happy training

the www.fit-point.ch have offer for 55.-CHF/month. the gym is OK.
Anyone has a clue if it's still valid? According to the site it is, but I can't navigate easily through it... So, I'm searching for a gym in the Ouest-Lausannois area: Ecublens, Rennes, Crissier, Chavannes. Ideal equipment:
  • Elliptic
  • Treadmill (Tapis)
  • Static bicycle
  • Group activities: aerobic exercises and similar
If there is professional help there, even better. Any other recommendations on this area?

Btw, are Gyms in Switzerland that expensive? I'm currently attending a gym in France (I'm away for a couple of weeks) and it's 60€ per month...! It seems to me way too expensive compared to the prices in Greece (even 10€ / month), but maybe that's the rule in Central Europe...

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

I would like to contribute a little on my experience in Holmes Place Geneva in 2012, when I used to work there. I see that a lot of people are attracted to that gym due to their marketing efforts, but I would strongly suggest you to avoid this place.

1. They are packed on peak hours. Not just packed in a way you experienced packed gyms. I came once to workout and I could not fit myself in a locker room, nor find a free locker (and they have a lot of them), not there was a single m^2 available. And again, they are not small.

2. Hygiene level is not great... not because they don't clean it nicely, but because of sooo many people there during peak hours.

3. They will charge your credit card for a lot of services you did not use. They kept charging my card after I left the gym, they charged me for a personal trainer session I did not use and that was supposed to be free anyway... There are a lot of threads on glocals about it. They are not honest and do a lot of business this way. I ended up cancelling my credit card.

Soon I will be on a quest to find a good gym in Geneva with a swimming pool. The issue with Geneva is... That either the gym is good and a pool is a puddle... Or the pool is great but gym is awful (most hotel gyms) or... I have heard that La Reserve has amazing gym and pools... but I am scared to even imagine their membership price. I guess I will have to face my fears and give them a call some time soon.

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

Hi Sorry to open an old thread.

I visit Lausanne every few weeks for business. My company don't put me up in a hotel with a gym. Is anyone aware of a pay as you go gym in Lausanne I can use on an ad-hoc basis while I am in town please.

I don't want a full membership. It's not worth it, I'm not in town enough.

Thanks
Anouska

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

Lets go fit in Grancy http://www.letsgo-fit.ch/ - charge 25.- per visit
There is a new gym that charges 49.- per month though for a 1 year contract
http://www.nonstopgym.com/en/ - might be worth it this one.

Re: Gyms in Lausanne/Geneva/Vaud

I am an expat in Switzerland and I subscribed to Let's Go Fitness.
Be advised, worst Customer Service ever and very difficult to get out of the contract. They try to trick you to pay even when it does not apply.
My Case:
1. They autorenewed the contract, even without my confirmation. Looks like it needs to be specified upon signing that you don't want to autorenew. (Being expat at not being able to read french, this is not easy to be aware of and English contracts are not available)
2. I got injured and had surgery. Even with Doctor's letter of sick leave + letter of inability of performing any sports, Let's go still expects you to pay. Even though, the contract says otherwise.
3. After many attempts to get this solved, still no reply after 1 month and they keep adding unpayment costs to the invoices.

Be advised! I would never subscribe to Let's Go Fitness ever again!

Be advised - most contracts in Switzerland are written in German, French or Italian. If you can't read and understand it, don't sign without having someone who does know the language read it over. Auto-renewals are common with gym memberships, phone contracts, and the Swiss Pass (GA or half-tax card).

The fact a person is unable to read and comprehend the contract they sign is not an excuse to get out of paying. It's still a legally binding contract and fighting will only reduce your bank account further.
