Wakeboarding/wakesurfing

With the advent of spring, comes the beginning of wakeboarding season! With being surrounded by all these beautiful lakes, I know there has to be some primo wakeboarding around here. I live in Zürich and have seen one or two places online but they run about CHF 300/hr, which is way more than I'm willing (or able) to pay.

Does anybody know of anything cheaper? Know anybody who has a boat? I'm always down to go, sunrise runs, sunset runs, whenever. I know how to drive a boat and am more than willing to pay for gas, etc.

I know the ETH has these things organised. Have you checked there?

To join the ETH sports center, you just need to bring along your degree/diploma and then it's basic CHF3xx per year.

Nanda, thanks for the heads up. I didn't even think about the ETH. They totally have wakeboarding at a decent price. Cheers!

Re: Wakeboarding/wakesurfing

For a fantastic weekend away, I suggest you head down to Ticino to go wakeboarding there.

There is cool little wakeboarding club in a place called Vira which is over the lake from Locarno.

Here is their website.

Next door to the clubhouse a reasonably priced hotel attached to a pizza restaurant. I can't remember the name, but the guys at the club will be able to help.

There is not nearly as many boats on Lago Maggiore as the is on Lake Zurich, hence the water is a lot smoother, especially early in the morning.

I highly recommend it. Great bunch of guys who run the place and a very laid back atmosphere. You can hang by the beach in sun when not out on the boat.

Re: Wakeboarding/wakesurfing

Last year I went a couple of times in Zurich (once by Tiefenbrunnen, once by Walishofen) and it was much cheaper than you suggested. More like 60Chf for 20mins - which was more than enough for a beginner like me.

Luckily a friend then bought his own wakeboarding boat

Thanks for the info.

Well you just tell your friend that if he is ever in need of a 3rd there is someone who is always willing to go. Airtemp 5 C, lake temp 5 C, 5 AM. I don't care.

60 CHF for 20 minutes is still quite a bit though.
