I get mine from the UK - when I'm there; from this company: http://www.justasoap.co.uk/catalog/index.htm
they may deliver to switzerland. I use two heaped cups per bath so I buy a drum at a time!!!

Following intensive research - google -it would appear we are both right as they can be used in the bath, but are, as I was regularly treated to by my old gran - ""This creates a natural stimulation of the intestines. Metamucil is one example of a particular brand. Epsom salts and citrate of magnesia or citroma draw water from the body into the bowels to make a softer mass""
for the totally, thats more information than I required , interests. So my apologies.

I've just been informed that this Thread really belongs in Health etc. so I'm going to move it again.
I beg forgiveness from those of you who contributed to either of the two Threads which, as they asked the same question, I merged. Your In-box will now regretably be full of PMs from the forum saying that your post was moved, merged, moved, moved back, and then moved sideways by Longbyt.
You may all put your groans at the bottom of this post, bad rep ikon is top right and I promise to try and get it right in two moves next time.

I give up! I'll leave it where it is which means one fewer PM to the twenty contributors. |

If you are taking them internally make sure they are fit for purpose. The website I recommended has a BP/FCC grade - costs more but you are assured they have met certain standards.

Table salt is cheap and everywhere available, so why should i spend a lot more on sea or bath salt when its exatly the same. I belive it is even better because it comes from an very old and unpollutet environment. | | | | | Where did you get your epsom salts from then? |

| | | Re: Where can I find Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate)? | Quote: | | | | | Does anyone know where I can buy large amounts of Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulfate). Back in Australia, Epsom salt is available from most supermarkets for approximately $4 per 1kg.
In case you are wondering, I am using it in a bath to relieve aches and pains. It is cheap and very effective.
For those who are interested:
Magnesium: a powerful vasodilator required for proper muscle function, as well as neuromuscular coordination. It prevents the muscles from going into spasm resulting from strenuous activity.
Sulphate: improves elimination & detoxification from the increased metabolic waste resulting from physical activity, and therefore improves recovery time.
Together they also combat inflammation which occurs in the body all the time, but at a greater rate after strenuous exercise.
How to use it:
For general maintenance to prevent muscle stiffness and improve recovery time, use 3-4 cups in a bath once or twice a week. Gently kneed your tight muscles while in the bath.
Here in Switzerland i just found it in the pharmacie. Magnesium sulfat is the name in german, is the one of the things that i think has reasonable price.
I use it many time to do a liver flush.

| | | Re: Where can I find Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate)? | Quote: | | | | | The German word for Epsom salt is Bittersalz.
The pharmacy at Bellevue sells 100g for Fr 4.60. I need 500g for each bath. A bit expensive for a bath.
I will have a look at the pet store, health food store and garden centers. Perhaps they might sell larger quantities for a cheaper price.
Back home, I knew several athletics who would use an Epsom salt bath to recover from intense training. I found this site that might interest you: http://www.epsomsaltcouncil.org/health_benefits.htm
Sorry can't help you on this but perhaps this site might help you find the answer to your question. http://www.mgwater.com/transdermal.shtml

(Not to worry about being cheap or not, that's only my Celtic genetics coming out). Just had a lovely long soak and it has worked a wonder on my old bones.

| | | Re: Where can I find Epsom Salt (Magnesium Sulphate)?
I just found a place that might help. I have been looking for oil of oregano for about a month (takes that long to find anything here). Went to Silhcity tonight - Naturathek! I asked - she had it and just like that I have my little bottle of oil of oregano. I was impressed by what I saw and even got my glucosamine there. You are wondering where I am going with this and what it has to do with epsom salts, read on. Mention Devils Claw and most Doctors turn pale and warn about the serious side effects. Well it doesn't have any side effects on me and my pocket is the richer for it. Good side effect in my world. I was not impressed by the serious side effects of remeron, cortisone, NSAIDS, hrt and ibuprofen so I don't take them. I have had enough from years of antibiotics and anti-inflamatories produced by the pharmaceutical companies. Plenty of lovely side effects from those products. I had never in my life been to hospital before Switzerland and hadn't even attended a Doctor for about 10 years. Anyway back to the epsom salts. I discovered that I lacked magnesium so now every day I take a magnesium supplement. Works wonders for me, my heart rate slows down all the nausea, anxiety etc goes away. This of course was psychosomatic disorder and I need a psychiatrist. There is nothing wrong with me that good diet cannot fix plus a few normal natural supplements. I take magnesium supplement every day and I have no problems, muscles are fine, heart rate is fine, don't throw up 3 times a day and wont go into any more detail. So that is the epsom salts - it does the same thing - extracts all the toxins put in to your body by food mainly. My brother said to me recently - how come our grandparents were never sick. I said they didn't have fertilizer. I was told that any salt will extract the toxins but I do not know how true that is. Sorry for sounding off so much but I have had two years of very expensive Doctors and no result. I am fixing myself. PS I buy the cheap stuff in coop and it works fine.
