Re: Gym Zürich

I have open a thread but maybe it should be here: Mcfit is closing in the end of June of 2011.

I read all of posts in the 2 threads about gyms in Zurich and i would need (i am not yet in Zurich) more info on Migros FitnessPark in Puls 5 regarding fitness and wellness.

What do you think (i noticed that fitness park website also has links to Activ Fitness, are the same group?)

Re: Gyms in Zurich

You can get the INTERCITY card from the Migros Fitnesspark for 1420.00 CHF per year which includes entry into ALL Migros Fitnessparks and Activ Fitness gym's in ALL of Switzerland.
Page translated into english by Google Translate.
or you can just get the Activ Fitness membership for 740 CHF per year which gives you free entry into all Active Fitness gym's in Switzerland.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

When i said i am not on Zurich is that i have not relocated (only 22nd May) to avoid replies saying to go there and see (i only can after 22nd May).

My doubt now is choose between Activ or Migros.

I am looking for fitness but also wellness (Hamam, Sauna) and PowerPlate.

I have to check what is the difference between Activ Fitness and Migros.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

You can do a trial day at both gyms.
AT Activ Fitness I think is FREE and at Migros I think it is 35CHF.
FYI - All Activ Fitness's have sauna's in the changing rooms.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

Thanks for all support. I also bought on Groupon a 1 month trial for Airport fitness.

For what i have seen it is a good gym but in Airport Zone and does not have cycling classes.

As i will be residing in WipKingen i have to see other alternatives. Thanks once more.

Re: Gyms in Zurich

I would recommend:

1) Activ Fitness abo (membership) for 740 chf
plus
2) a city of Zürich Sportabo 220 chf - which gives you access to ALL city operated swimming pools (indoor and outdoor) plus access to all city operated outdoor river or lake bathing areas.

You can go to the Hammam or other specialty Migros fitnessparks on a day trip if needed.

Please note that the CITY swimmingpool is closed until Summer 2012 due to renovations.

Can anyone recommend a Gym in the Seebach Oerlikon area? Danke.
Hi,

I was actually researching this yesterday since I'm moving to the area and I fond one place close to the end station of the tram 14. Seems like a good price, about 570/year. I don't know how the facilities are, but I will check it out next week when I move there.

Happy to report back!

Hi, I'm moving to Zurich in a month and have been looking at gyms online. Has anyone used The Forum over at Badenerstrasse (part of the silhouette group)?

Re: Gyms in Zurich

When I first got here we lived in Oerlikon and I tried out most of the gyms in that area. The best was

http://tc-training.ch/zuerich-airgate/willkommen.html

another is Nordfit.... But the fact they charge you 30CHF for a trial without deducting it if you sign up, annoyed me a bit... hence they didnt get my business

http://www.nordfit.ch/home/frameset.htm

Now I dont live in Oerlikon I use Silhouette... as they have lots of gyms all accross Zurich and as someone previously said the facilities are great, no waiting, well maintained, no pretentiousness....

I would recommend going to them all and requesting a free trial most will give you one.... then you get a few workouts for free too which is always good!!

Re: Gyms in Zurich

Hello, I will be in Zurich until mid December so looking for a centrally located gym that allows short term/monthly membership.

Looked at Silhouette's website but can't find the membership fee info...?

Also, does anyone have updated reviews on Holmes in Jelmoli? I have read some rather negative reviews on them, that the staff is unfriendly and not very clean etc, so I'd like to know how it is in recent days.

All I need is a threadmill to run, and a mat to do my stretches so I don't need much, but a clean, hygienic, and friendly atmosphere

Thanks for the info and some tips!

Re: Gyms in Zurich

Summergirl, the airport fitness offers monthly memberships, and I've been told it's good.

Also, you can look at asia spa in Sihlcity http://www.asia-spa.com/en/abos.php

Good luck

Re: Gyms in Zurich

Hello, everyone!

I'll be in Zurich (Sihlcity aria) soon, planning to stay shortly - 2-3 months approximately. From what I've seen here, Holmes Place and Migros Fitnesspark (Stockerhof) both seem very good, the only dilemma I have is they offering MONTHLY MEMBERSHIP or not?

(If yeas, how much it would be?)

Thanx in advance,

Zee

Re: Gyms in Zurich

I warmly recommend Asia Spa as Gym and Spa. Both the gym and the spa are nice, esp. if you don't want to go to a gym with hardcore weightlifters, but rather a young dynamic professional crowd.

I haven't enough time myself to hold an abo economicaly speaking, so I am selling my subscription (sunshine, 10 months to go), but for those who want to try, there are also option to go on one-off basis
