Where to surf?

Any tips on a good surf school/location for a family of beginners (Dad and two daughters -12 & 8). I was told Portugal is a good place to start. No long haul suggestions please as my wife goes crazy after four hours in a plane.

Thanks

Peniche in Portugal,
San Sebastian in Spain
Biaritz area of France

I'd personally go for Peniche.

Been to sagres Prtugal, but can be choppy and rough.

I like Canaries for good consistent surf.

Im off to Morocco this winter, it's supposed to be very good!! And cheap.......

What time of year? I love the Basque coast (around San Sebastiàn) but not in winter with kids.
