Karting (two-stroke karts)

Hey All,

I've done a fair amount of searching on EF and have come across a few threads related to karting, but none related specifically to where you can drive/race two-stroke karts. I've also done a bit of searching on google, but even with translate working to the max, I've struggled to find what I''m looking for...so I turn to you!

My questions are, is there anywhere where you can turn up/book a drive in a two-stroke kart, or even join a race series in Switzerland (or surrounding borders), preferably up at the Zurich end of the country?

A similar kind of thing to what I'm talking about is club100 in the uk (http://www.club100.co.uk/), where you can join test sessions, and if you fancy racing, you can join the series where the karts are supplied and prepared by the organisation.

Any help gratefully received!

Re: Karting (two-stroke karts)

@bigblue Thanks for the reply.

I did an arrive and drive there a few weeks ago, but the karts are four-stroke and aren't particularly powerful.

Are you saying that they've got a series at Wohlen where they supply two-stroke karts?

as far as I know no one does a club 100 type deal here, at least not that I have found. Did the club 100 a few times also the british endurance pro kart championship, rotax max and the southern challenge series (which we won twice )

Looked at getting another kart setup here, but prices (as ever) are really stupidly expensive

Seems like you have a quite a bit of experience! I'm fairly inexperienced, which is why I was hoping there maybe some sort of series where everything is done for you!

Re: Karting (two-stroke karts)

Hi Guys

I have just got back today from Jesolo italy after competing in a 24hr race. I have done loads of karting and would be keen on getting a team together. I was just visiting this site eurokart.ch. The track is just inside France and 110km from Zurich. My German is not good but it looks like they do sprint races and endurance on hire karts. Let me know if you find anything.

PS I may be doing the Teeside 24hr race in Newcastle August Bank holiday weekend. I also know a friend is looking for drivers in the 24hr Race in Le Mans which I did last year but cannot do this this summer due to a upcoming knee op.

Re: Karting (two-stroke karts)

Teeside Karting are providing them and theyŕe quicker than the 2 strokes that club100 provide. Send me a private message and I can put you in touch with my mate Dean from Team Banzai.

pm sent

The club 100's arn't that quick, the engines are rev limited so they live a bit longer (normal 100's need total rebuilds after 8 hours, which costs quite a bit) which is why we stopped racing 100's and moved onto rotax max, which gives the speed of 100's but the reliability and longivity of pro-karts (4 stroke)

For real speed you have to try a gearbox kart, a mate let me try his a couple of months ago, and it physically hurt, changing gear felt like someone has kicked you in the back, and braking is somthing else, like you have just hit somthing, in the words of sgt Murtaugh, I'm too old for this s**t

what do you need to know?

Switzerland is very limited, you have electric karts, or only 2 places that have petrol karts (hire karts, not all that great tbh), only 1 'proper' outdoor track.

If you want half decent karting here you'll need to buy one

Or travel out of switzerland

As for the uk, your spoilt for choice, check out http://www.karting.co.uk/

Re: Karting (two-stroke karts)

Hey all!

We're a karting team, based in Southern Germany, but will be doing races with the 2013 Rotax Max series, to include Switzerland. 2013 will be our first assault on the European karting scene, having been successful in the Western United States, to include two IKF National Championships over the years.

We are primarily an American aerospace & automotive engineering group, which specializes in several areas, from performance enhancement to clean-slate engineering solutions. We are currently designing a new 4-place GA aircraft, and also offer flight test engineering services. On the automotive side of the house, our speciality is in vehicle dynamics with special emphasis in karts, and we have also studied the new DeltaWing car in extreme depth.

Give us a look at www.slipstreamresearch.wordpress.com , which is temporary, given that we are still constructing our main website. If you have any questions, drop us a line at slipstream.research (at) gmail.com

See you guys on track in 2013!
