What I really can't understand is why Heskey is in the squad. Why have a striker in the team that can't score?
well, they have Peter Crouch........

I'm not sure that you can say that King is world class when he hasn't proved himself either for England or in any form of European competition. Hell, he rarely plays for Spur because of his knee and given that in a World Cup games come thick and fast will he become a liability after just one game...

Hart gets my nod for goal despite his inexperience. What I really can't understand is why Heskey is in the squad. Why have a striker in the team that can't score?
This exatly the attitude that Capello is trying to get rid of. He is picking players that are performing week in week out for their clubs (in what English fans call the best league in the world). If he didn't have his policy of picking form players then noone new would ever get a look in and the first team would become complacent, arguably the problem with the team for some time now.

Also on the Heskey argument, I don't understand his inclusion either but if you don't trust the don's selection then whos can you trust?

Re: Capello names England squad

Heskey gets the nod because he is selfless, and creates opportunities for England's better players with his power and nuisance factor for defenders. You don't have to score to be a good attacker...Thierry Henry outscored Dennis Bergkamp nearly 2 to 1, but i don't think anyone would seriously consider him to be a better player/forward than Bergkamp (also coming from a Gooner here).
