Karting around Zurich

Does anybody have any experience of the go karting tracks near Zurich? From a quick search I can see one near Katzensee, and another in Winterthur. I'd like to hear people's experiences.

Hi Dan,

The one in Winterthur is ok, there is also one at Rumlang (by zurich airport) which is average.

The problem is that most are indoor and very small. try www.karting.ch

Re: Karting around Zurich

By far the best one near Zurich is at Wohlen. They have turbo (petrol) karts which are fairly nippy plus the circuit is nice.

The best place I've been to is near Basel - over into France. Long outdoor course with petrol karts.

Rümlang is *ok*. Spreitenbach is a more challenging circuit.

I went to the one in Winterthur a number of years ago. It wasnt bad but it was indoor and a bit on the small side. I think that if you go karting, you are better off going to a large outdoor track.

this is The Daddy - near Basel but in France. Swiss-run.
They also use it for Supermotards and have quad-bikes too.

Re: Karting around Zurich

I've been up to Wohlen a couple of times and I think it's absolutely excellent! They only let you use the "turbo" karts when the track is dry, and when you hit the very first bend at the end of the opening straight, you'll see why!

They also offer "races" where you take part in several different races and they track all your times etc. It's all great fun.

The hardest thing is finding the place, and I guess you'd need a car to get there but I might be wrong.

They obviously spend all the money on the track and karts, coz the website is awful!

Yep, easily done. The second time I went I warned everyone about the first bend and somewhat predictably, everyone span off. Including me.

Re: Karting around Zurich

I did a Google search today on "go karts switzerland" and this was the first useful result.

Why didn't I just start here?

Thanks for the info.

I hit the tyrewall as you come out of turn one so hard it made my teeth hurt but the worst I saw there was a guy come off the last turn, hot the sand, and fly straight into the fence - without the kart .

It is a fun place though .

Re: Karting around Zurich

I think we should organise an EF race. On the turbo karts, a couple of races. Anyone interested?

If 8-10 are interested, we can create a social event.

40 bucks a person per race, 2 races. I feel the need...

I am pretty gash due to my obvious, how shall we say politely, tendency to accelerate slower than your average person. I believe it is known as the Bowser/Donkey Kong from Mario Kart phenomenon!

Count me in though, always game for a laugh, for all you Lewis Hamiltons out there, you'll also need the Johnny Herbert!

Last time I went it was for their organised team endurance event - most laps a team could do in the given time, 6 drivers to a team I think. There was a rostrum and bubbly and everything (but the ringers who worked there won, of course ).

Bloody good day out though.

The food there is ok too - Italian style.

I would be up for it along with my biz partner, depnding on date obv.

Re: Karting around Zurich

Ok, i find it a little confusing.

Can you:

1) join their team endurance race
or
2) book time slots or 15 minutes and race with your own team

I think you can do either - My biz partner knows more as he arranged it last time.

Re: Karting around Zurich

I was really happy to see this thread; I am hoping to get back into karting when I get to Switzerland.

I used to live in Finland and karting there is like Little League in the States... everyone grew up doing it. My colleagues and I used to race all the time and I desperately miss it. I was pretty darn quick for an American too. We ran organized races against other companies in our business and our team quite very well.

Again, glad to see this on the board. Are there any tracks in the Bern area? I know Basel is not too far but it's probably a bit of a haul to go two or three times a week like I used to do in Helsinki.

Our company are going next Tuesday. They are flexible too, the track owners that is.

We can decide on site how many people race and how many races we want. We can also decide on which cars to race, super or turbo. We are going Turbo though.

It was all really easy to organise and the people respond very quickly, however, they appreciated my dodgy German.
