Dogs should always be on lead around a lake, so keep your mutt to yourself !
This is wrong and I would say the same about fishermen.

Having quit smoking, I seem to relate everything to food. I noticed I have gone on every single food thread that has come up.

As for fish, I find the idea of eating bottom feeding fish strange. Otherwise, I'd eat just about anything... except Blutwurst. Are you edible?

Re: Carp Fishing

hebeisen.ch is a chain of fishing stores in switzerland.
Their owner founder has written an excellent in depth book(apparently) on fly fishing in switzerland.
look up hebeisen.ch for starters I'll check with my colleague who has the book and is an avid fly fisher.
I fish for pike and other toothy creatures. .

If you are a fisherman, and you like to take your lunch with you, please put it in a sealed container.
Half a chicken left un-defended beside you will be snaffled by my mutt in seconds.
Please protect your food.
Dog eating my lunch by the lake needs protecting, not my lunch !!

Please keep your dog in a sealed container, or just a lead will do...

Or maybe just feed him, I hear that works also

It is a speciality in southern Alsace- in the Sundgau (near Basel). The Royale version is deboned and definately worth the few more.

There is even a website dedicated to the Carpe-Frite (in French): http://www.carpe-frite.fr/accueil.html

Oh well.... the French! What can one say?

I guess I'll try anything at least once.

Welcome back J!

Re: Carp Fishing

Carp is eaten quite a lot in Eastern european countries, and I've seen it for sale over here. The depleting number of carp in some places in the UK has been blamed on the influx of people from Eastern Europe into the UK, there was a case in an english angling magazine of someone being fined for taking carp for the table. Personally, the taste is a bit earthy for me.

That's what I imagined. Perhaps even muddy... or silthy?

Re: Carp Fishing

Gamey, NO! Earthy, muddy yes.
I eat game a lot, (when I can get it) the best meat you can get, in my opinion that is.

Poor Marcus! We poached his thread (at least we were talking about Carp).

I don't know of any good lakes in CH, but will come with you- I love to fish.

i think nathu pointed out earlier, that http://www.karpfen.ch/html/gewaesser/index.php was a resource for fishing spots...

by the way, does anyone know where i can find a fish-season calender? much like a mushroom season or pollen kalender, should say when which fishes thrive...

Re: Carp Fishing

I flyfish in Nesslau on the River Thur for trout.

It is less than an hour from Zurich and good fun for a day out.

I have used a guide to take me flyfishing for pike which was great fun. But the pike here are smaller than Ireland and Switzerland, but still great sport on a fly!

Tight lines

I was looking for first hand feedback from anyone who had actually visited any lakes.
