Traditional Aikido in ZH or Horgen?

Hello folks,
looking for a serious and traditional Aikido dojo either in ZH or Horgen (or in between).
Due to the language barrier though I'd favor a place where English is used mainly or at least spoken when necessary. (Japanese only would work as well as we'd all be on the same boat )

thanks
Miguel

I don't think you'll find something like that but if yes let me know as I'm interested too.
I remember one sign of an aikido club close to technopark next to the tram 4 station. the first one after escheiwiss platz.

Re: Traditional Aikido in ZH or Horgen?

Hi,

This page has a comprehensive list of dojos in Zürich and elsewhere in Switzerland:

http://www.aikido.ch/state.asp?s=6

I have not been to any of them yet - I was training in Basel before.

Of course it depends on what you class as traditional Aikido - the Swiss Aikikai style seems to be quite flowing and I find it close to what I did with the Aikido Fellowship in the UK. The UK Aikikai style I always found a little on the abrupt side.

As for the English only part, I would not worry too much as very often instructors will speak a bit of English if your really don't understand. To be honest I found it a convenient way to improve my German comprehension.

Cheers,
Nick

Re: Traditional Aikido in ZH or Horgen?

Thanks. I was really hoping for some first hand experience on a local dojo.

Nick thanks for the link, I know at least how to avoid hitting any club which is not even member of a federation.

This is an excellant club and fantastic teacher, who is probably the best in Switzerland for this particular style.
