I'm from Zürich and looking for anybody who likes to play Squash. The best/nearest place I know is "Vitis" in Schlieren (3 stops from Zürich HB by S-bahn). Playing once a week or maybe every two weeks.....

... If many people are interested, we could also agree on a fixed day/time and have a after-squash drink (drinking seems to be the common basis in this forum )

Richard is a bit a squash expert - maybe you'll get his attention and he'll come in with some advice.

The Airgate gym in Oerlikon (just near Bahnhof Oerlikon) also has 3 or 4 squash courts. I don't play myself and therefore don't know if the full gym membership is necessary in order to use the courts or if they're open to non-members too. But i've seen from the pictures, notices, etc on the walls that they also have some kind of league or competitions going. I'll check it out next time i'm there, if it would be of interest.

Squash in Switzerland is quite well organised which might have something to do with the president of Swiss Squash being English - Essex boy actually...

Around Zürich there are several clubs including Airgate and Vitis.
Airgate has no real interest in squash they simply inherited the courts and are therefore quite expensive.
Vitis is a specialist racket centre with several courts including a two wall glass court. They also have some dodgy flooring so watch out which courts you get if you like your knees.

Other clubs include Grasshoppers. They are out Zollikon way near Hirslanden stuck off the beaten track a bit and you will need a car or be fit to get there. They have a great English pro Mark Woodliffe and an English atmosphere.
And Swissair in Bassersdorf which is fine but a bit run down and a bit cliquey.
There is also one near Bülach but I was never there so no comment.

And then slightly further afield:
Frick great place this best courts in Switzerland and very friendly with a website of their own - www.squashfricktal.ch - this is a pay for the year and use it as much as you want, when you want place
Langnau which is a la Vitis just a bit(lot) friendlier.
Wintherthur which is also quite friendly but dark and imposing -courts are fine though.

Any questions please ask and if you are any good lets organize a game - in Frick of course cost on me. If anyone wants to organize a (semi-)regular Sunday morning game let me know. I can provide the courts etc at a very good rate.

my favourite place to play is a place in Dietlikon called SquashFit. Difficult to get to without a car - but nice courts, nice atmosphere, nice staff and they recently did the place up too.

Mi Matthias, the weekend of Sept 2nd/3rd is fine but on the 2nd of Sept not until 17:00.

I know the thread is about squash, but I just spent 20 minutes trying to find a place around ZH for racquetball. Can anyone point to one or it is just not a popular sport in CH (my conclusion)

anyhow, I am looking for a squash partner or two in the zurich area to start in the New Year (2009). I play at an intermediate standard and am in reasonable shape. I am reasonably flexible in terms of location and need to be - since there are not an overabundance of courts available in the greater zurich area. However, i live in Thalwil and there are a few courts near me.

Alex, I would be interested in a knock especially in view of Christmas excesses. Was a regular player a few years ago, level now? In Zurich area normally wonder down to Schlerien VITIS. Could play tomorrow? or Sunday.
