soccer club for children

I have a 9 years old boy who would like to participate in a soccer team. He is currently playing soccer on the weekend with Intersoccer, but this is not a club, they don't have team with regular practice. Could someone help me with information on how and where he can sign up for a team. We live in Lausanne.

Thank you very much.
Michelle

Re: soccer club for children

At village level, the football teams are fun by the Village (Gemeinde/Commune) local football club - in conjunction with, but independent of the local school.

However, I am unsure how this would work in a city, such as Lausanne, which is centrally controlled, but sub-divided into districts.

EDIT: Here is a list of Football Clubs from the Commune de Lausanne official website.
[link didn't reproduce correctly - in search boxes on r.h.s. select "Sport d'équipes" from first dropdown and "Football" from the second, then Rechercher]

Until, someone with direct experience, in your area, has a recommendation, they are a few links contained on this search result page - which may or may not be of help.

I hope you can read the French - if not look for an option to translate (depending on your browser)

Re: soccer club for children

I'm the trainer of a junior team in the Zürich area and I can tell you that most, if not all, organised teams and their junior sections will belong to a regional organisation under the Swiss football league (ASF/SFV). In your case that would be the Association cantonale vaudoise de football (ACVF, list of clubs here). The link for each club will take you to a standard ACVF page which lists their details (officials, club's own pages, contact numbers, teams, trainers, pitches, match timetables, etc). The clubs need junior sections as they can't survive without nurturing talent for the future.

My advice is to pick the club closest to you (this helps when he will later make his own way to the training sessions and matches) and get in touch with their "Membre commission juniors". His/her contact details will be listed under the club's "Responsables du club" link.

If any friends or kids in his school already belong to a particular local team, even if it's a bit further away, then the downside of the extra distance will be more than compensated by the camaraderie, sharing of transport to/from training and matches, etc. Say goodbye to a lot of Saturdays if he starts to get serious :-)

Re: soccer club for children

Would you happen to know if there are any possibilities for younger children to start playing ball? My son is nearly 3 and loves to play football. I would love to find some place where he can start playing....

Thanks!
