Any people out there fancy getting together for a golf day? I normally play in Nuolen or Holzhäusern, HCP 17, but happy to play with anyone as long as they know the polite point to pick up the ball. My wife (HCP 29, one year in) would also play, so you dont need to be a boy to reply.

The mid point seems a bit of a no-mans land according to www.swissgolfnetwork.ch Neuchatel is nice, I used to live close by. Payerne I'm more familiar with the karting than the golf.

I've played Neuchatel a few times, there are also a couple of nice courses in Fribourg with good mid week rates.
However that ends up being quite a trek for you , I need to look up where Wollerau is to get my bearings and see where would be good comprimise.

Just for my entertainment, how much do course fees for a round of golf (9 or 18 holes) cost in Switzerland?

I'm not a golfer, more of the Winston Churchill "a good walk spoiled" school. I'm expecting some fairly horrific prices compared to back home, where even those on the lowest incomes seem to partake in the sport.

You make it sound like back home you pay the green fee to go walking on the course!

Holzhausern is 90 "stutze" for 18 hole w/end. Most places north of 100 at w/end. The kills is not the price but the formality of a course permit "platzreife" and handicap certificates. Ive played 15 years but had no previous HCP or club membership and it took 3 months of tests before I could play on the course!

The course I play in Gruyere (which incidently is one of the most picturesque I've played) is CHF80 during the week and 100 at wekends, however if you tee off before 10.30 am weekdays it is only CHF 40 for 18 holes.

There is actually an English speaking golf club, a proper association fully accredited in Switzerland (without its own course) where you can play with other expats. They run tournaments, allowing people to meet up at times suiting them, within a certain time period, e.g. two months. At the end there are prizes as usual ... its a good group actually. Your choices are:
- keep an overseas membership of your current club (or another "club of convenience")
- join a Swiss club and join the ASG as part of that
- join the non affiliated clubs: ASGI or the ASG Golfcard run by Migros

ASGI and Golfcard mostly have high HCPappers or learners, so have a reputation for false HCPs and are consequently barred from a lot of private club tournaments. You can find tournaments and details for all Swiss clubs at www.swissgolfnetwork.com which is run or at least endorsed by the ASG I think.

If you dont have a handicap it can be quite fiddly to play on Swiss course without doing the AP/PR test (rules and skill level equivalent to c.HCP 40)



Most Swiss courses are pretty strict on seeing proof of HCP esp if you live in Switzerland, and many of the private ones have minimum HCP which go as low as min 24. Mostly its 36 to play at the weekends.

There is a 9 hole short course (approx 70 m. holes) at the Hippodrome in Divonne just east of Geneva.

Hi - I am visiting my student son in Lausanne on 19th/20th June, with my father and brother in tow. We'd like to play gold at a course on Saturday 20th. Can anyone recommend a course within 30 mins drive of Lausanne that would accept 4 handicapped non-members? Ideally, green free not too expensive.

We played mini golf a few weeks ago with some friends, and had a really funny afternoon, i am crap at it, but still funny if anyone want`s to get together for mini golf near me for a laugh and a fun afternoon please let me know

Why not make this an EF friendly. We can meet halfway, Moossee is in the middle and also run by Migros.
