last year i bought a board, used it a couple times but last week when i took it out of the bag, i found out that there is rust on edges. i tried to clean it with salt but didn t work. any idea that how can i fix it?

If you are a skilled boarder, why not get the board serviced and they will sharpen and wax the board for you prior to the season. Its probably CHF50 and is just good practice before starting the season.

If you won't want to pay a professional - just used something mildly abrasive like a sharpening stone or abrasive cleaning pad and then oil it afterwards to stop it reappearing

As with skis, make sure boards are dry and stored in a dry place with plenty of air.

If carried on a car roof unprotected skis/boards will be subject to salt from roads in winter, especially when wet and so should be washed down and dried after a trip.

I ruined a pair of skis this way. The rust was so deep not all the pocks could be filed off. Good luck!

First, make sure you wash off all the salt with fresh water. Not sure why you thought this was a good idea, but salt & water is a guaranteed way to encourage rust formation.

Secondly, look at the rust. Chances are it's just a light surface coating, in which case you really don't need to worry about it - the first time you use it will remove the rust. If it looks worse, then take it in for a service, although as it was new last year this is probably not strictly necessary (unless you did a hell of a lot on it). Or just take a light metal file and gently run down the edge, being careful to keep it at 90deg and not pressing very hard.

To avoid it happening again, simply ensure the board is properly dry before storing for the summer. A good end-of-season service would help too. Once bagged up don't just store it in a damp and draughty basement - put it under a bed or somewhere else in a dry environment.

Homeopathic propaganda. 'Cept using salt directly is less effective than a reduction that would effectively be water- which if applied with a Scotch Brite pad would work.

The irony of this forced comedy is that iron oxide is mildly abrasive and any sort of abrasive applied diligently would take the rust off. Like cures like.
