Re: Mtn Biking in Zurich

Unfortunately looks like I won't be able to make it.

But hey on the bright side, seems like there is a good few people interested in biking coming out of the woodwork. As soon as the evenings start getting longer again we can resurrect the Tuesday evening English Forum MTB Meet.

Re: Mtn Biking in Zurich

Friday noon or afternoon would be best for me - and the weather looks like it will be the best then too.

We could do Pfannestil since you recommend that -- It is a bit far from me, but I can take the train... And I am curious anyway since it seems to be directly across the lake from us and I have been wondering what it's like over there!

Looking forward to it... You can just PM me about what time works for you and where exactly to meet...
Sorry you can't make it this time Eire!

Re: Mtn Biking in Zurich

Wish I could go. Pfanensteil is my local hill. There is a really cool trail that goes down the Meilen side. Someone has built a bike park up there but the trail goes to the side of it and is really fun.

Enjoy it.

Re: Mtn Biking in Zurich

The more the merrier I say. The plan is to meet 12.30 at rehalp, Friday. From there we're heading up and across to Kusnacht tobel, then upto Forch, Pfannenstiel and back via either Trichtenhusen or Elefantenbach into town.

Anyone who wants to join us please pm me.

Re: Mtn Biking in Zurich

You can check out http://backyard.ch and they can order stuff in for you.
But you can get stuff for about half the price at http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/. Remember to factor in that you will be hit with import charges ordering things from chain reaction. For small items less the Fr60 there should be no charge, and for items over Fr200 you can still make significant savings even with the import charges added.

I am still trying to work out why I can get things apparently manufactured in Switzerland for about half the price from Ireland as I can in Switzerland.

Paulo if you are in Portugal like it says in your profile and looking for DT Swiss components then it will be hard to beat Woodsies suggestion of chain reaction cycles.

If you are in Switzerland and want the stuff quickly then most of the bike shops I have dealt with stock DT Swiss components. But again Woodsie is correct in saying that you will get them cheaper off many internet shops.

I've never had trouble getting any parts I wanted on the internet shops, in general they are much better stocked then the Swiss shops.

What parts are you looking for?

Ok you are looking for some pretty specialised kit!!! I admit I can't find it on chain reaction.

I suggest you do one of two things,
  • Mail Chain reaction and see if they can order the stuff you want.
  • Mail this guy he specialises in getting whatever you want. I have ordered my new bike off him and he didn't have any problems with any of the specifications I want to get.(I'm pretty sure he speaks good English so mailing him in English won't be a problem).
Hope this helps a little.
